Who were out of curiosity?

Liverpool fans are still on that high from last May. They think it will kick start them into a new era of 'glory years'. Yeah right. :p :D

I think Barcelona were the best team last year by a mile. But Liverpool deserved to win the CL cos of the teams they beat on their way to the final and of course Milan too in the final. Anybody who comes back from 3-0 down in the final of the european cup deserves to win, especially with the team milan had.

There is an element of luck involved, but Milan were complacent and they got what they deserved. Sour grapes im afraid :p

I hope we get a lesson from an unheard of player too, just hope we don't concede too many:)
:p 2-1 to Barca and the unheard player will get a goal at least

Just watching the highlights and i only caught them mid way through the 1st half but hardly any of the were of the 'pool other than the morientes header.

Because Liverpool didnt really produce anything, we dominated the game and definitely should've won, but didnt really create any chances.

As i said earlier in the thread, i think we'll struggle to progress, if Benfica score at anfield, we're as good as out. The last 5 games we've won have only been by 1 goal (most if not all have been 1-0).

So I was right by guessing Arsenal would win :) If only I could carry that form into the prediction league :p

Great performance though by Arsenal tonight.

Why all this bickering about the best team in Europe? Anyone can beat anyone on their day and for the time being, Liverpool are the European Champions and that should be respected. Come May and we'll have new ones (possibly!!).

Just because you are European Champions doesn't mean you're the best side in Europe...

Great result for Arsenal but they could have killed the tie off. Gutted for Liverpool. Hope they turn it round.

I'm quite miffed at all of the fans wanting other English teams to be knocked out. :( As far as I'm concerned I want english teams to do as well as possible, it's good for the english game. Worry about them when your side is drawn against them.

I think its mostly against Liverpool.
Due to the over-excessive boasting starting from last May onwards by the fans.

I wouldnt call it over-excessive, any team wins the same right when they become the champions of europe, at least our fans show some passion!

Fanatstic win for Arsenal. So proud of the performance tonight. Fabregas was world class. Really matured on the big stage.

Henry's goal :o

TBH I usually support all British clubs in Europe, but the state Chelsea seem to have deliberately kept their pitch in is pretty diabolical. They deserve nothing more than a whipping imo.

We were very poor tonight.Benfica were there for the taking in the 1st half,we had all the possesion yet didn't create anything more than a few scrambles in the box,and then more from poor defending than good passing. It was like groundhog day from the Old Trafford match tbh,and once Benfica did start playing in the last 15-20 mins it was almost inevitable what would happen

Losing Sissoko was a big setback for the way Rafa had set out our midfield tho we should have been able to cope with that,Garcia playing as badly as he was didn't help matters tho
We aren't out by any means, but if we can't beat a team as poor as the Benfica one that played last night then i don't fancy our chances much.

On a lighter note,well done Arsenal,fantastic result :)

i think Eboue and Toure played really well for arsenal considering they just back from the african cup. Toure was solid in defence and Eboue was running up and down the pitch all match.

I won something (not sure how much yet) for backing Lyon against PSV :D

I thought we played badly last night, missed Sissoko obviously. Makes me laugh when people go on about boasting by the Liverpool fans, when of course United never went on about their European cup win and Chelski haven't mentioned winning the Premiership once this season

Yeah but the problem was after he got the yellow card his style changed, he wouldn't challenge for the ball as much and was careful with the benfica players so gave the ball away. I think that combined with sisoko changed the game completely.

We should have won but didn't, we didn't create many chances and the ones Benfica created they capitalised on. Our passing was all over the place and then watering the pitch just took the michael.

I would.
Liverpool fans are the worst for boasting. By a country mile. I dont remember United fans doing the same when they won it.
And it can hardly be called passion at all. Not by a long shot.
If you want proper passion, go and watch the Madrid/Barca game, or better still Rome/Lazio.

or the Manchester derby :D Thats passion alright... Actually, it probably hate more than anything :p lol...

When UTD won it, I was over the moon couldnt control my self but I think with us winning the Treble had something to do wth it :D
