Champions League Spoilers 21st/22nd Feb

That was never a sending off, clumsy tackle went for the ball and missed, yellow at most, but the ref had almost guaranteed at least one shocking decision with his pre match comments & something has to be done about the amount of blatant cheating going on now. del Horno & Messi were a complete embarrassment:(
I though we did quite well considering, but 2 goals is 1 too many I fear...

Del horno would have tried to argue the point if that was the case, instead he rolled around trying to take the attention away from the challange, he knew what hed just done, thats when Messi looked up and decided to roll around the same so he didnt get conned.

It might have helped his case if del horno had looked at the ball.

Although i think Juve are great side their loss yeserday didnt really convince me of winning champions league. I havnt seen much of Juventus but they have a lot of talent in their Side some very world class players.
Yesterday was a good result for them. 1 goal in Turin would effectivly end Werders chance's of getting through.

ROFFEL MAYO

Totti is on every hollywood B-movie directors list. It is a part of their culture to protest and act unsporty. I do agree tho that Spain has been worse lately.
Also dont forget the less fashonable Dutch league. I produced it on TV for 2 years and holy do they moan and shout at the ref! Diving is laughable too.
So your basing your opinion on one player and what you've done in the past?
Good logic. ;)

It is quite sad really that we have so much debate & comments about cheating in here now. Almost every big game (especially European ones) has an incident which takes precedence over good football:(

Jose Mourinho has came out and had a go about cheating... I think its very rich comin from him, having watched a porto team who could win oscars for cheatin and play actin!!! Lets face it european football is rife with it and its about time UK teams started playing the game by their rules.

 What's happened in here  Is nobody discussing the game anymore? I might as well join in then :) I don't particularly like diving but a lot of forwards, foreign or not, have been guilty of it. It was part of Kewells game until Benitez gave him a balling and it could also be argued that Gerrard went down a bit too easy in the Champions League final. It's happened and will continue to do so until the governing bodies bother to do something about it. IMO, neither Benitez nor Mourinho will have a leg to stand on until they completely wipe out diving from within their own clubs. Back to the game :) I thought Chelsea played pretty well considering they went a man down. They took a well deserved lead which probably woke Barcelona up. I thought Barcelona were outstanding from then on and should've won by a bigger margin. On another note, it looks like the injury to Sissoko is far worse than people first thought. I wish him a speedy recovery and hope he gets back to playing soon.

Just reading about the Sissoko incident, I feel really sorry for him:(
I didn't see the incident, was it a genuine accident?

It was an accident; basically beto went to kick the ball as Sissoko tried to head it and beto smacked him really hard on his eye. Its very worrying although his condition is improving according to lfc.tv. Its touch and go whether he will be ok :(

Yes JohnnyG genuine accident, foot was raised above head height but going for the ball.

Ball was dropping infront, he went to control it, Sisssoko popped up from behind and went to header, no malice at all.

He apologised later and said he never wished him any harm in the challenge
and how he feels really bad for Sissoko

Just seen the Chelsea game and quite frankly the ref should be shot, where do they get these idiots from. I dont like Chelsea but he has single handedly ruined their chances. Two yellow cards and get on with the game.

I feel sorry for that ref from where he was he saw a player taking a running leap into another player with no attempt to go for the ball. He doesn't have the benefit of seeing it in slow motion from every angle. This doesn't excuse Messi's playacting.

Gamesmanship is something no one likes but its funny how people hate it when its against them or 'its part of the game' when they benefit from it. Its never going to go away unfortunately. With so much money at stake and with so much pressure to succeed is it any wonder that players look to get an advantage in some way.

It would be very interesting if there was a camera that gave you the refs point of view. Then people might actually stop blaming them all the time for players doing stupid things or when their view may have been obscured.

Back to the game I think Barca will regret not pushing hard enough for a 3rd goal. All this contraversy I think will help Chelsea gel even more as a team and boost their siege mentality that everyone is against them.

Did you not watch the game? Barca could have had 5 or 6 goals if it wasn't for some last ditch defending from Terry and others. They also should have had 2 penalties.

It could've been more but i'm sure they're delighted with just the 2 away goals. :)
