Change to MM access after 1st January 2024

Time for me to stop lurking, I was wondering why the list of groups seemed shorter today. Makes sense and it is a fair request considering you get access to the MM where people are much more reliable then other similar places.

Posts in GD still don’t count towards your post count but they are included as part of the 15/90 MM requirements.

Great thanks.

Curious to the stats, how many accounts have lost access?

Also curious to the demographic of the 20+year accounts, I was a young teenager with lots of time on my hands back in 2004, now with kids and a busy job means my spare time is... limited.

Currently waiting for some paint to dry, which is why I popped on only to see this thread :D

That's good, if your going to force people to spam the forums to maintain MM access it's prob best aimed at the subforum where most of the posts are drivel anyway xD

I tend to lurk and not comment a huge amount these days and therefore can see my access was removed.

It is a fair decision as it restricts access really only to active members.
Sucks for those of us who've been here for years (this is my second account before someone says ah but you haven't been here 'that long' as my first was lost due to being tied to an ISP's email address I had 15 years ago), but there are many of us who mostly lurk and ingest and have done for years, contributing when appropriate but on the whole not feeling the need to feed the beast/trolls in rant threads of which there are many these days. Along with doing a weekly scour of MM to see what clear outs people are doing and what might be of interest.
Plus I'm probably not the only one who is active somewhere e.g. this forum, them might not be active/posting for 3-6 months, just due other factors/life distracting me.

Probably doesn't help that I'm one of the few people who mostly browse everything incognito and only log into stuff when I specifically want to, to limit the amount of constant tracking going on. This is probably just due to working in the security focused end of IT for years though, and obviously for MM it was a specific reason to log in.
