Children not allowed squash in school !

OP drinks squash exclusively and so does his son. Do you think that's healthy ?

When did I ever say that. Please go and read again.

With breakfast we both enjoy a cup of tea . Is this ok ? It did have water in it !!

With dinner I had a sip or wine and then we boyh had a cold glass of lemonade , naughty us hey !

Also lol at people saying "kids must drink water!!!!!!"

I disliked water as a child but hey ho I probably turned out a lot more successful than most of you in here

But once again ocuk has no perspective.

Oh dear oh dear. Such arrogance, it was going so well.

Also the printed word doesn't portray tone well, most of my posts are of concern not ridicule.

Not arrogance merely pointing out the stupidity of some people's approach.

Child drinks squash so ocuk equates this with bad parenting (the simple folk do anyway) whereas it is entirely normal. Gain some perspective.

I will be honest I refuse to drink tap water if it doesn't have some kind of squash in it, it tastes metallic etc, the squash gets rid of that.

I will happily drunk plain water from a bottle which doesn't have the metal taste in it.

Right, for a start, OP never said that. He said his son doesnt refuse to drink plain water, just doesn't like it. OP hasn't said what he drinks.

Secondly, how have you come to the conclusion that it is unhealthy without knowing which squash is being used? Telepathy? Even if you knew the exact ingredients would you be qualified to make the decision to ban it? Who at the school set that rule? Did they get advice from a qualified professional?

How long have schools been making up arbitrary rules overiding the rights and responsibilities of the parents? Do you think that is healthy for society?

Bit of perspective here. It is not like he is sat in the playground with a can of special brew is it?

Sinner!

Go kill yourself, now, before you reproduce!

Squash is coloured.
When spilt, squash is sticky (as is flavoured water) and it stains/marks clothing, work, carpets etc. If a bit of water is spilt on a school carpet it dries. If squash/juice is, then it is much harder to clean up.

People saying about when they were at school - we didn't even take water bottles to school, we had the choice of sticking our mouth under the tap when we came in from PE/break and that was it!

OP, encourage your child to drink water. It is common practice in schools and schools are hounded by the government about their pupils being encouraged to make healthy choices.

School dinners are not allowed to be pizza/chips all the time. Pizza bases must be wholewheat. They are allowed to serve oven chips once a week and can only serve potato-based carbs twice a week. There must be two portions of vegetables and most schools also serve salad. School dinners are not allowed salt to be added to the recipes. They can't have ketchup unless it is home-made.

It's not just your child's school, OP.

Oh, and - the children at our school are allowed to play conkers ;)

You've never mentioned that you occasionally pack a bottle of water with your child's school lunch either so what else am I supposed to assume ?

Please stop with this 'IT HAS WATER IN IT' nonsense. The point is the additive that you're adding to the water and the volume of that additive that you're consuming over your lifetime. Just think about it for a second.

I hate drinking plain water, tap or bottle. I can drink it if I have to, but I always add squash for a bit of taste.

But he's still allowed heroin at playtime right? :p

It's ridiculous. Some of the posts here would think the boy will only drink bleach.

Children have specific tastes and not liking tap water is pretty common, but as tastes mature it disappears. My infant and primary school used to chuck down jugs of squash on our tables.

Guess what, I'm 30 and me and my peers mostly still have their teeth and some have even gone on to breed themselves!

God, I'm pleased I went to school when I did.

Fizzy drinks, coffee, chips, cheese, sausage rolls etc, the student had the responsibility of what to eat......

Heck we could even run around outside, kick footballs, play fight and the school was open when it snowed.

Yeah from early teens, I was taking a flask of coffee to school. Had to be a metal flask as I dropped and broke the plastic/glass one. Not allowing to bring orange squash to school and checking everyone's bottles etc comes across to me as a nanny state. Crisps and chocolate were allowed too, but as long as we had that apple during break and greens with our evening meals, then I don't see the problem.

(p.s. Any idea why I had to re-login? Expired cookie?)

We weren't allowed any drinks at primary school. Water only. I was at school in Brighton, which one is it?

Because you drink squash. Ocuk is banning you now, even as we speak.
