Chinese Grand Prix 2011, Shanghai International Circuit - Race 3/19

It's a shame that the Merc is a bit of a dog, because they made the perfect call early on that got Rosberg out into the lead for a while. I can't help but wonder what Nico and Michael could do if they had a car that was actually any good.

Sticking a bit more fuel in it may have helped him. ;)

What the hell do you want from a race if that was boring?!

 There's just no pleasing some people.

It is all still very forced though. It is a game of strategy with emphasis on tyre and fuel management. That is not true racing. Not sayiing I will stop watching, but as a long time fan it just doesn't sit quite right with me. Most of the overtakes were because the guy infront couldn't defend with DRS or had old tyres.

You're a fool. Webber had problems with his car ALL weekend. To come from 18th to 3rd (a few seconds behind your team mate) is a MONUMENTAL EFFORT. Vettel has had more run of the green this season compared to his team mate this year.

Vettel had a bad start, he's to blame for his poor race.

Well it was Webber's fault he was back in 18th in the first place. Although I accept that he had some problems with the car, he didn't have 18th-position-problems.
Okay, he did well to come through the field but I don't remember looking at any of his passes and thinking 'Wow, not many drivers could have done that'. He had better tyres and one of the best cars in the field. Don't get me wrong, I do like Webber and think he's a good driver, but for me there's no contest for driver of the day.

Chances are if those things weren't having an effect on overtaking we would have none at all. Especially not for the lead! I say anything which unbalances that is a good thing. End of the day the fastest guy still won.

I presume that you are quite new to F1. Looking after tyres or going for an extra stop was a frequent occurrence in the earlier years.

That was a fantastic race. Great action all around the field and without any significant incidents or wet weather, which is what we've relied in on the past! Amazing.

Great race by Lewis and Webber. Jenson having a tough time, by god I was willing him to overtake Massa when Hamilton did. We could have had a 1-2.

3 weeks.. :(

Not entirely. Even you yourself said it. He's had problems the WHOLE weekend. Even in previous races this season he's always had an issue where as Vettel has had none or fewer issues.

He came through the field without KERS. Other cars had KERS. It's easier to defend your position, even more easier to defend it with KERS on your side which makes it more remarkable that Webber got past so many.

For me, he is the drive of the day because he was able to overcome his cars problems this weekend which ultimately put him on the backfoot for qualifying 18th. Despite this he still finished 3rd in a race where he had no KERS, 2 seconds behind his team mate who was on pole.

Drive of the day :)
