Chinese Grand Prix 2011, Shanghai International Circuit - Race 3/19

I was only listening at this point but wasnt JB badly blocked on his last run (so McLaren could be a lot nearer to RB than those times suggest)

Sounded like Lewis was having more tyre issues as well (saying they were shot after a single lap where as JB was able to get a few good lap times in on the same set)

Didnt hear what the track temps were like today - but I think last weekend suggested McLaren get closer to RB the higher the temps are

If the tires are shot, and your teammates aren't.. do the respectable thing and copy that setup! ;)

Pictures so far have been incredibly hazy. Supposedly it's due to the surrounding industries continuing work whereas the last few years they stopped during the race weekend.

Pirelli reckon Sauber could try a one stop again this weekend and two stops to be used by most teams. Paul Hembery was also very complimentary of Vettel's tyre degradation management (lack thereof).

After the incident-packed race at Sepang, which witnessed the highest number of pitstops for a totally dry race in F1 history, Pirelli says the evidence from Friday practice is of a much more straightforward event at Shanghai.

Didn't realise last weekend was the most pit stops for a dry race ever!

Thanks again AH2 !.

I wish the DRS activation was a little closer the exit of the corner for this long straight. If you are going to have a system in place to aid in overtaking then let the drivers use it as early as possible is my thinking.

The line is perfectly placed. DRS isn't meant to aid overtaking and make it easy, it is to allow the following car to get to a position where it can then attempt an overtake.

What I mean is, they should let the drivers use the DRS as soon as they feel confident of using it on the exit of the corner. I don't see the point in having this available to use while at the same time being restricted to a smaller section of the straight. I understand that it can't be used around the whole track, that would be silly but restricting it's use on the one bit of track where you can use it also seems silly to me.

I assume that the powers that be, think that if they allow DRS to be used slightly earlier at the start of the straight/corner, it is felt that it would give too much of an advantage to the driver behind.

The DRS sections appear to be calculated to provide opportunity going into the next corner. Not to see people walk past the opposition half way down the straight. That's why you don't have it early on. The straight is just too long.

Indeed, it looks a lot less fake when the driver dives down the inside at the corner. :p

With only 1 move to defend allowed it's still easy enough for these drivers to breeze past under braking.

If coultard says "just using the tools available to you" regarding the DRS complaints, I will snap.

any chance of the practice times being posted?
