Christmas work parties

I am sure whatever you wear you,ll have a great night :) ..

Shame I only wokr in a 2 man band (so we dont have a works do lol ! )

We have to go from brum to meet directors and head office people in sheffield for ours, and as new boy I've been given driving duty. :( We have hotel rooms, but even so I'm gonna have to seriously curtail my booze consumption to drive back.

On the other hand, at least I won't be the one out of my face and acting the crazy fool, for once. :D

Man, this ain't fair. I started my own company on the only people it employs, is well.... me....

I'll have my own party then!! it will be the bestest party in the world! Just you wait!

going to Glasgow next weekend for an EX Yarrow Sparks dinner. In jonglers 50 quid a head so it better be nice.

Here in belgie we have our christmas dinner in feb as I work in finance for the EC and their accounts are from Jan to Dec which makes this period the stressfullest of the season.

It is bad form to break traditional dress code, even worse than removing your jacket before the host. If he has any respect for the host he will turn up in proper dress.

Etiquette must be respected. Formal dress is one of the great traditions that hasn't been tainted too much by modern fashion and ignoring such an established dress code is disrespectful and embarrassing.

I can never completely tell whether you're being serious or not when you make these pretentious posts!

Either way - keep up the good work, I find them absolutely hilarious! :D

LAWL. Scuzi; the proper English gentleman... from Ireland. :p

For a new job whichi started today the doo was this evening, so i wasnt attending..

The one for a job i work saturdays and have currently ended full time and changed to part time is on the 27th, or atleast i think it is.

Should be a good doo.

I cant wait.

Enjoy your evening Jodie, you seem excited, have a nice time.

James.

Ours is next Saturday. It was great fun last year so can't wait for it this year :D. I did manage to make a bit of a fool of myself and I'm still getting stick about it now, so god knows what'll happen :D.

not having one this year, the made a a christmas party comitee of people who never go and thus decied nobody wants one :(

Mine is on the 15th, we'll be at the Ricoh (sp) Arena with a load of other random companies. Will be a laugh though as it is free food and drink all night as the directors pay for all the alcohol, an indoor funfair with dodgems and rides and I found out yesterday that there is also a casino there. Might end up losing some money. Luckily the dress code is smart casual, so will be suit, shirt and no tie. Might try and get away with wearing my red converse instead of black shoes :D

On Tuesday it's my Company do at Koko in Camden, which is fancy dress where we have to go as our alter-egos. Still undecided as to whether I'll go or not since it's a pain to get home and I'm not sure I can be bothered with fancy dress; I'm currently running low in inspiration.

Besides I don't want to be hung over for Wednesday as it's my Wife's Xmas do which is black tie and I'm sitting next to the 369th richest person in the world. I'm hoping we'll get on famously and become new best mates. As my other half is the company events co-ordinator the party is all her work and has been 6 months in planning, so I can't make an arse of myself (or I can try harder not to).

The evening isn't officially tuxes only it's just we all make a bit of effort once a year. Considering some of the others companies attending will prob be coming in jeans and t-shirts (happens every place we go) I'm sure a white tux won't embarrass either the host or myself sufficiently to cause an issue ;).

hate works-do's, utter waste of time and money. cant wait for it to be over for another full year of peace before spending more money on a suit that will be worn once a year and forced pleasantries.

Loving all the people who think they are upper class talking about dress codes. Get over yourselves, eh guys?

Nobody but the elitest even know about the difference in summer / normal black tie events. A white tux is hardly being disrespectful, most likely it will be the cause of a smile or two and some laughs before getting trashed at the Christmas party. A crime against humanity? I think not.

I think you've taken this opportunity to highlight that in your lives you go to events where this sort of thing matters, making you the exclusive minority. Well done.

Ours was last night, over at Namco Station in Central London, and casual dress. Was a good laugh, I get on well with my colleagues and have had reasonable amounts of interaction with most departments as part of my previous job in the company so there were lots of people to chat with and so on. Sadly, being a rather geekishly oriented company (ISP), we have just over 200 men and just under 50 women in employ, which skews things a little. Would be nice if there were more women in the company!
Was a good laugh and good fun. Just annoying that taxi drivers don't want to drive out to East London unless they can't avoid it, so I had to walk to Aldgate East before I could get a cab home!

It's called etiquette and manners. The two go hand in hand. I wouldn't expect a skirt wearing Jock to understand that though.

Calm down Nancy (or should that be Morag?), it's only a bit of light hearted tom foolery.
