Cineworld cancels The Lady of Heaven film screenings after protests

A spokesperson for Cineworld said: "Due to recent incidents related to screenings of The Lady of Heaven, we have made the decision to cancel upcoming screenings of the film nationwide to ensure the safety of our staff and customers."

Are Cineworld saying that Muslims would be violent towards their staff and customers if they showed a film that they didn't like?

Sounds a bit racist to me.
No it is not racist.
And no Cineworld are not insinuating anything.

Imagine actually being so indoctrinated from birth that your entire waking day was ruled by talking multiple times a day to something that is invisible and doesn't actually exist.

Add to that, the fact that this invisible nonsense being/thing, seems to be completely obsessed with cutting off very specific pieces of children’s genitals.

Horrible load of stupid nonsense.

If their staff and customers had already received threats of violence then yeah, they're not insinuating anything.

I was under the impression that they were just holding a silent protest. It doesn't seem they were.

The guy with the sign written in green pen made me chuckle a bit.

Also, why does the guy center of pic appear to be wearing a quarter pounder with cheese on his head?

Now imagine if people gave this much care toward protesting things that actually mattered. Say, I dunno... energy price rises or food shortages

I think this form of censorship is a slippery slope.

Its a hat typically worn by people from the Pashtun areas of Pakistan/Afghanistan so quite common to see in certain areas of the UK now.

I think a big aspect of this is that a lot of the arguments are coming from the traditional Shia / sunni disagreements. For example the thing about not depicting Mohammed is something that only Sunni Muslims believe, and the events of the film align with Shia views on history but not Sunni views.

BBC newsnight had an interview with one of the film's producers and someone from one of the protest groups last night. Was itching for Kirsty to just let them argue it out, but kept it focused on questions :p.

I mean if our laws and way of life are so abhorrent to them, then why live here?
Surely they’re free to go and live in a country that’s more aligned to their stone age belief system.

Tories have neutered protests, Police can now shutdown anything at all on a whim. This form of fascism is a slippery slope.

just as much/little right to protest as BLM folks to my mind -
author was know to have divisive viewpoint on Sunni muslims comparisons with Islamic state behaviour as discussed r4am,
however portrayal of Allah using cgi to circumvent usual laws looks intriguing.
