Cisgender

This is politics? How can people say it is free speech no matter where it is if normal people are silenced but minorities can speak as they wish... Or should I say you can voice your view if it is agreed with for others.

First time I've heard the voice. Reminds me of that scene with all the silver decorations in Men in Black 3.

How can something that is abnormal be normal/equal? A he/she, she/he...

What is normal? Who gets to decide? We might consider being white as normal but globally we're in a minority. On OCuk, we might consider being male to be normal but that's not the case globally.

Cisgender is a more descriptive term. It's not a term that you might ever need to use but it's useful to some.

Haha, even if you just define normal as 'what's natural', one merely has to plop an actual hermaphrodite of the human species, or that of several others, on the table, and let the debate rage re sex continuums, sexuality and identification!:D The thread does not disappoint!

Seriously? Well, if you're born a male and later you go into operations to chop off your wee whacky wohoo, I'd class that as seriously abnormal. Especially those who are trying to convince 4 - 6 year olds to have sex changes.

It isn't even normal if you haven't had these operations to dress up in women's clothes.

The first step on the road to recovery is acceptance.

My name is tommyV, and I am cisgender.

There, I said it. Please spread this post for 'awareness' ;-)

Of course it was to be expected that the white privileged males wouldn't understand what it's like to be transgender or even gender-fluid, being shunned and cast out of this patriarchy we call society.

When you can identify as a gendervoid foxkin demiqueer then you'll truly understand, until then the cis scum need to be reminded of their cis nature every day until they truly accept us for who we are.

It's normal in so far as it happens a fair amount. Also "women's clothes" is a social construct where we as a society have decided what is and isn't "women's clothes".

It's odd and bizarre to fixate on being or pretending to be something that you're not, but a lot of these gender identity issues are in part caused by how society places so much importance on staying within "gender" defined boundaries. Just look at toys aimed at girls. They are ****e that effectively teach them that women are supposed to do the cooking, cleaning and looking after babies.

All these new gender pronouns are just for people who have run out of ways of being attention seekers, just pick one , male or female....no-one else gives a cr*p that on the first full moon of every leap year you identify as a gay squirrel...they don't care and they don't need to know about it.

'Normal' is what the majority do, by definition; if the majority of people got their kicks slapping each other with rotten fish then that would be normal behavior.

I don't think anyone objects to people not wanting to be labelled and have expectations on the basis of their biological sex, but I tend to find people that are passionate about this issue are...absolutely beyond obsessed with it, like it's the defining aspect of their life. I do find that ironic, not wanting to be labelled, but then allowing the issue to define them.

Why are you fixated on what female toys do?

Male toys imply violent attitudes, submissiveness to a state, soldier worship and so on.

When people are involved, it all inherently goes wrong, nothing is neutral and never will be.

It can't, but it doesn't stop people trying.

Although being transgender isn't illegal, and nor should it be, I find "cis" not too dissimilar to pedophiles inventing a term for people who enjoyed having sex with consenting adults.

Inventing a term for the 99.9% of people who don't want to chop their **** off just make them look more ludicrous.

Cisgender - it's a derogatory term, isn't it? Like how in the world of Harry Potter they called non-magical people "muggles".

At least that's the been the context I've seen when encountering this term. "White cis males should not reply." "He should check his privilege, being a white cis male."

It's just society being ever more retarded.

lol - wuh?!

Yeah, I'm not really sure either. It's late :p

I see it not so much as being derogatory, but an attempt to normalise transgender by putting everyone in a category. You're either trans or cis. Despite the fact, the vast majority of people are in the latter "category".

Because girl toys have far more potential for "damage" with regards to perceived gender roles. I'm talking about things like lego, where the female aimed sets are rubbish and very different to the regular lego.

It's a very real problem, and it's why people make a fuss about women studying and going into STEM fields, because society teaches women to behave a certain way.
