Cisgender

I wouldn't say they're "thinking they're something they're not".

The way I look at it after hearing the stories and reading the facts is that they are quite literally born into a body that is different from the body their brain 'thinks' is what they 'should be'. And in my opinion that is not an illness.

To me that sounds like a fundamental definition of a mental illness, people just don't want to apply that label to it because it has historic negative connotations.

I think that's the main trouble I and others have with it. (The perception rather than it being the true definition) Tbf it may come under the definition of a mental illness, but the facts are still not known so I think until then it will just be a guessing game.

I understand that there are sub-types of gay i.e. masculine gay and feminine gay, but if you're not gay/bi etc, then you're just straight. The word straight is 2 syllables less than cisgender :-)

fair enough, i disagree.

how do you feel about transableism though, or that stephoknee wolsch geezer? do you not see those as being a similar thing?

However the words "mental illness" tend to be used to degrade by a lot of people which is what I do not like.

It's all stuff to do with what happens in the brain, so it's mental, but it isn't an "illness" and shouldn't be branded as such in my opinion.

It's an illness in the most literal definition.

Whether people like it or not because it doesn't pander to their delicate flower like feelings, it's a mental illness because their mind is telling them that their body is wrong.

It really is a sense of body dismorphia.

you're making it sound like some poncy music producer who's trying to stand out with his new sub genre 'avant guard rainbow tek-jpop fusion' :p

May be 2 syllables less but it scores off the chart on the privometer.

Although I guess 9 times out of 10 you want an object straight so really reading into it you could claim that "straight" is a term of superiority. Thus you're a horrible person :p.

You're placing too much emphasis on feelings. The body comes first, the mind second when it comes to development, which means that it's an illness of the mind that is made worse by general roles within society and the ridiculous emphasis society in general puts on gender roles. Just look at the sort of toys that are marketed to kids.

The ones for girls are utter ****e, they aren't any fun at all. Toys marketed at boys are typically gender neutral in their packaging designs, whereas toys marketed for girls are near enough always pink, with a picture of a young girl on the box pretending to play with the crap.

Gender and sexuality are 2 separate things. Cisgender is just describing gender, not sexuality (ie gay/bi) :)

I think the bloke is just using the little girl thing as something he likes doing as he states "it takes him away from the adult world" or whatever. I see that as different to the case where people have no choice. (ie. I'm attracted to both sexes, I haven't decided that, it's just how it is)

I actually have not heard of transableism, and so probably shouldn't comment until I've had a look, sorry :)

I understand but at the same time it's never bad to think about people's feelings (as long as you're not being over the top). :)

I sexually identify as an Attack Helicopter. Ever since I was a small boy I've dreamed of soaring over the oilfields dropping hot sticky loads on disgusting foreigners. People say to me that a person being a helicopter is impossible and that I’m ****ing retarded but I don’t care, I’m beautiful. I’m having a plastic surgeon install rotor blades, a 30mm chain-gun and AMG-114 Hellfire missiles on my body. From now on I want you guys to call me “Apache” and respect my right to kill from above. If you can’t accept me you’re a heliphobe and need to check your vehicle privilege.

Thank you for being so understanding. :)

The result of helicopter parenting and military penetration? Check your undercarriage, is there a stubby missile or a pink canoe?

I think this is just stuff people make up so people have arguments to go against those with genuine conditions. That is ridiculous. It doesn't even warrant speaking about imo.

Why is someone feeling that their body doesn't match their mind by way of ability/disability 'ridiculous' but someone that feels their body doesn't match their mind by way of penis/vagina is something that should be accepted as normal?

Objectively I don't see any great difference, both would appear to be the result of fairly deep rooted mental health issues regarding mind vs body.

You really think people decide to do this for attention? People commit suicide because of these kinds of things, and because of the hatred they receive, and you think that's just for attention?

Yes there are people who overact stuff. But you get them in all walks of life. There are plenty of overly flamboyant people i've met who are straight, and those who are gay etc.

You people make me laugh. Utter waste and drain upon the NHS. Which makes me sad and depressed. There are people I'm real need that don't get the care they need due to this kind of selfishness.

Ohh no I'm too short, I, too tall, I'm too rotund. And what. I'm not Heman, there should I keep trying to commit suicide until the nhs build,me up?

So backward.
