Cities Skylines 2 is Official!

I had not been in a rush to get back to playing this one, kinda forgot about it really.
I was waiting until they released it on consoles, as that for me would be an indication that it was both more stable and optimised.
However, that, going off a November update message, seems a while off still.
Not heard much about any "bigger" patch plans.

Good to know that there seems to be improvements.

Yeah I am still hoding off getting back into it just quite yet, I will though.

Plus I am addicted to Farming Simulator at the moment, and I still play PUBG so that's all my gaming time taken up at the moment.

Is that ver 22 and modded or the newer ver 25 of Farming Simulator..? Keep thinking of trying that one, not sure which to go for.

Thanks

New one on PC. I got it from CD keys as quite expensive otherwise for what it is.

It's a proper grind game by the way but I find it rewarding. Got about 130 hours so far.

Interesting thanks. I noted that the latest seemed to have got some stick from the review I watched, that could have reflected its high price. Some, from previous game playing experience, seem to have found issues with it.
Buying from key site, kind it around £18 now, seems reasonable enough to try it out.

Did you get a Steam or a Giants version of the game. ..? If Steam do you still have access to the Giants mod site..?

How is RAM usage? I've seen reports of usage well in excess of 32 GB.

A new game at 4k with Nvidia optimised settings, around midrange....

I tried to load an earlier saved game, 603k in population, and that used around 16GB of memory. But, after a minute or so it crashed, then again the UI disappeared.

I have a 4080 and a 14700k.

The initial GPU loading is still ridiculous.

Tried to launch again....

I'm pretty sure I got the Steam WW version. I genuinely dont know about the Giants mod site, I have only downloaded one mod so far which I did via an in game menu. (lumberjack Mod) - do I dont know if that is the same thing? Sorry.

Yup, that means you used the Giants site to access the mod database.

I can get the Giants version much cheaper than Steam. So I'll probably grab that one.

Thanks

Neither Chrome nor Edge like that, but if you're only using 16 GB I wonder how people are getting much higher usage figures?.

Edge is the browser I use, works fine for me. No blockers etc that could prevent that from opening ..?

Not sure how their memory usage is as you note, unless they are using a ton of assets. But I did not think that was possible at this point..?

Have they been able to actually show that usage, as I have done..?

I can't seem to play the saved games, goodness knows what they changed to now make them crash, to test them further.

At this point, I continual to be more concerned how it maxes out my 4080 on a new map with zero on it and rather mediocre graphics.

This might work for you....

the optimization int he game is dog poop...

the last time I tried to play it on a 12700k 32gb ram and a 4090 I couldn;t get the games animations like traffic to stop stuttering no matter what settings I use.

the games a resource hog and uses loads of cpu for some reason... even though like nothing is happening

It seems to me that it is still the same, having tried to run it again. Still getting a crash also, that could be due to an older save though. But the older save just showed no UI and the crash was when it was on the main UI, not in game.
I kinda get it now why they still haven't been able to get this to run at reasonable performance levels on a console and get the graphical experience that they consider to be adequate.

As you note "dog poop".

Not sure how they'll go on resolving that one..!

I might have another go at this tomorrow, haven't played it for ages, but I do keep jumping in just to get the latest mods and content.
