Cities: Skylines

Can anyone recommend any assets (res, com and offices) that suit a Med/Spanish theme? I am trying to make coastal holiday destination. I have a few maps I have made, one being a good chunk of Ibiza, with Ibiza town and San An both in view. Another is a just a basic sea front stretch like any of the Costas we can go to. So yeah, white building with red/orange roofs and not that tall apartment complex is what I am after.

You're probably going to have to do a fair bit of trawling through the workshop for that.

I havn't looked through this list in any particular detail, but Strictoaster did a project called Seenu which was based on the Maldeves so I guess somewhat similar (more similar than New York I guess!) , I put a link to the asset collection below, some of those might be useful.

^^^^ For me it was very much a day one pre order. It does seem to be pretty impressive with what it offers.
Even tho I have all the other DLC''s I don't directly use some of the main features they were sold as. For example Snowfall - I simply do not like perma frost type maps, I expected seasons. Natural Disasters. I need no help in destroying my city....! But with SF you get trams - not sure why they didn't go into Mass Transit. And with Natural Disasters you get the helicopter depots.

^^^^ On my newly started map I'm thinking about not using Metro. It is very very efficient and helps tremendously at keeping traffic down but it is all underground. I had some good success with the last map with busses and trams. But I did use the AVO mod to greatly increase the tram and bus capacity. Trams can clog up the roads, you should post a couple of screens tho showing what you mean.

What kinda city/theme you doing?

If the Parklife DLC and patch had not been coming so soon I had intended to look at either a desert theme, not tried before, or a detailed map with enough terrain differences to make the building of a humongous type city completely inappropriate. Something perhaps like this....

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1366985442

.... either of those, detailed or desert, would have been different enough from my usual builds.
I had even started collating a number of RICO buildings and tested out the "fixed" RICO mod as my collection of residential RICO properties expanded. Either of the two ideas would have encouraged a more small interconnected towns approach, as mentioned before the vanilla buildings are a little bland or lacking when you wish to think outside of the conventional style of city building. The next version of the MOM mod is supposed to be due shortly, not too sure if that would have figured in either of the two possibilities tho.

But Parklife seems to offer a lot which would influence how my next build could develop.

With that in mind I'm just playing around with a more conventional build but I'm trying not to use any Metro and not have a huge city but one of smaller towns interconnected by rail, hopefully.

BTW I found this mod which is proving to be most invaluable....

adjusting costs etc is working well. Also I can increase, for example, school capacity and its radius of influence etc. This means that if you are not building grids, most efficient, you no longer get dead spots of lack of services just by increasing their radius of influence.

These overpasses are also working well....

For full employment of industry I find that if I make sure that unemployment is around 10% or more then they will fill those factory jobs. Remember there is no penalty for unemployment. If that rate then drops to single figures the lower it gets the more you risk them not taking up industrial jobs when others die off.
On my last map unemployment had to run for a while at around 14% or so before I could get all my farming jobs filled.

The overpasses are very good, and that other mod I have used to make some power plants almost silent, as well as some stations. Also I have increased the numbers that a school can accept, as well as its coverage.

I installed customize it the other day, sadly it just doesn't show up in game. It shows up in my MOD list. But sadly just does nothing in game :(

Rico is awesome, but manually adding buildings can become a chore :(

To use Customise It, after installing and enabling, you select a police station on your map, as an example, and then click on the small cog in the window which pops up.

Yep, that little cog just doesn't seem to appear!

I seem to be getting some crashes lately too, so I wonder if something is conflicting with it.

The cog only appears on some building types which can then have certain values altered. It seems to work fine for me but then again if you have been having some crashes lately in CS that could be an indication that something else is going on with your game.

Got it, thought it was all buildings. It's only service buildings etc. Which is still incredibly handy, espically for reducing noise for some buildings.

Watched a video on the new dlc today, looks very interesting. Can see some good assets eventually coming along with this!

Anyone got a clue what's going on here?

So all the traffic just before the bridge all decide to shuffle about. I've deleted the road, no affect, I've used TMPE to tell them not to and they just do it on the section of road before it. The next junction isn't for a while and it's a dual exit and I've used TMPE to tell them to use both lanes at entrance and exit.

This here is causing a blockage in the whole city! :(

No idea on the above screenshot sorry, thats very wierd, did you get it sorted??? (noted post like a week old).

Anyway.

The only 2 DLC's I have is After Dark and Mass Transit so far and at no point have I ever wanted others so far.

With the new DLC, I am not 100% sure I will will be able to do much with that, that I cant already?

I mean sure its a very nice upgrade on the vanilla game, but with more beautification mod you can make parks like that anyway, use moveit to put buildings next to paths etc, can do all of it already.

The only thing that would be new, is park districts/policies for parks, and setting the park areas (I assume so they increase land value?) but by including assets in your park areas that have these values you can do the latter anyway.

Oh and I thought its been a little whilse since I spammed up this thread with my constant screenshots!!! - again - if I am anoying anyone with these let me know and I will stop but so far I think you guys like to see them?

So - firstly going to try and make/replace my high residential with the below, actually doesn't take that long. The low residential is ok, but high residential vanilla doesn't fit my city theme for the majority of the map. Again, not that I am doing a direct copy of Vegas, but looking on google 3D maps - if you look at the skyline, the entire city is basically flat apart from the big hotels on the strip which stand out. I wanted to do similar.

Below retail area, I still need to do a little more detailing at the back on that open land - but that drain/sewer needs work first, points to whoever spots the Breaking Bad related easter egg (I will have several different Breaking Bad related ones in my city, but only one in the below).

@BUDFORCE

As mentioned before your progressing cities development is forcing you to the workshop to remain as close to the theme as possible. The HDR choices on vanilla would not complement your map and look at odds. Sort of wish that this game had medium density residential

The BD Easter egg must be too subtle for me
Looked for billboards, diners or signs etc, meh I'm hopeless, lol.

EDIT Spoiler for egg.....

The car wash .!

Progressing nicely there

@Begbie did you sort out that strange traffic issue.? I have seen something similar where each vehicle in turn mysteriously seems to jam their brakes on for a pause and then go again, causing traffic jams. IIRC just deleting that section of road, then rebuilding, and then deleting all traffic to start it again usually sorted it.
