City Fibre

Not sure I want to be be in a 24month contract with anyone. If an isp is good they don't need to trap you.

No but a 24 mont contract means you’re guaranteed no price increase for 24 months

Wouldn’t do it again with BT but I’d do it for a company like No One

Plus, it’s not locked in the sense that if you move somewhere without Cityfibre, you don’t pay a fee

yeah the discount of 3 months would be nice, but I've signed up to a 1 month rolling contract, if they put the price up I go elsewhere
got and install date of next Monday

Been reading that some ppl on City fibre with Vodaphone have recently had their latency / ping times triple due to routing issues. Being locked onto a 2 year contract bothers me if this happens.
Would you say Giganet is considerably better than Vodaphone for gaming? Tempted to cancel Voda as and go with them instead.
Everything I've heard about vodafone's network is negative :D Giganet offer 3 months free and don't hold you to contract so for me it was "meh, worth a shot". Some of the order process felt a bit of a mess, but the product is solid.

I can now get Giganet, but it's £10 more a month for what looks like the same service. Vida install for me in the 14th so I have 14 days to cancel it if I'm not happy and can change to Giganet
I mean at £40 for 1000/1000 it feels good value. Pretty sure Giganet don't do price increases as well which is better than the CPI+3.9% = 15% lol **** you crowd.

People do tend to jump on the internet to complain not praise if you go by the reports from the likes of ofcom etc voda are not the worst per head by a long way.

A lot of Giganet is marketing 3 months free does sound good but when compared to the other providers you list they are £10 per month more expensive and do they charge for equipment etc?

Not available to a lot of people as well so it makes it pointless this is why so many have jumped on to likes of Voda who only provider available or due to pricing.

Giganet do price increase with CPI it's in t&c what they do not appear to do is the extra 3.9% others do on top.

The other issue is some people still want landlines Voda can offer this anytime calls for extra £8 for example making this and 910/910 is cheaper still compared with Giganet.

This isn't a post trying to defend Voda and put Giganet down all providers can have pro/cons

It would be nice to hear from a lot more people and areas they are in what they have etc.

For me i am in Bournemouth area, 500/500 package with vodafone on cityfibre along with vodafone voip.

For me i notice my ping i get 8-12ms on a uk server but on fttc zen i used to get 20-23ms to a uk server or on virgin media 30-40ms to a uk server.

I get speeds different through out the day but i do get the 250mb guarantee speed.

City Fibre came to install my fibre yesterday but it was too windy for them to climb the pole. :( So now i'm rebooking. Hopefully it won't be too long. Did get my EEro 6+ turn up though which is nice. (I went with Talk Talk in the end as they guaranteed the highest download speed out of all my options.)

Didn't realise that I'd been live for over a year on my connection (in that time it hasn't been down once) until my ISP messaged me yesterday saying I'm now on a monthly rolling contract, had a look and more options available now that come in cheaper for the same speed such as Giganet. Thinking of switching the line over to them after Xmas due to needing to give 30 days to cancel with my current ISP.

If my latency is anything like that from No One on Monday, I'll be very happy indeed. Bought my new router ready, just need no issues their end finger's crossed

It works out at £30/mo when you take into consideration the free 3 months.

What CityFibre location is that, we both get ~3ms - on VF also :)
Will probably switch to Giganet for a month when my contract is over and see how it is, I consistently get 1-2ms jitter with VF.

But it’s not, as both have different levels of customer support, amongst other things.
I binned Vodaphone, never even bothered with them as didn't want to be stuck in a 2-year contract, Giganet aren't available still yet here just says pre order soon. So I have gone on a monthly rolling contract with No One and my instal date is the 21 Nov

This is on Vodafone City Fibre in Edinburgh. Customer service is garbage as many have said but the actual connection is solid. Not a fan of the router they provide and the extender unit is Wifi 6 when the router is 5 is a head scratcher. Happy with the performance on my own router though.

looks pretty damn goo

got mine installed today - seems pretty good for gaming much lower latency in online games and can feel the difference. ping test on 8.8.8.8 gives ping of 5ms so pretty good. All in all they seem pretty good. I tried a quick p2p just to see and it does appear that they throttle that though. not a big deal for me though, but I like to know all the same.
