City Fibre

The Vodafone router is starting to really get on my nerves where it has a 'nice' feature where the inbuilt firewall decides to block devices on the LAN and then the admin portal is not able to be logged into so requires a reset of the router.
The UI of the Vodafone router would always crash on me whenever I clicked anything.
Glad I switched over to my own router w/ PPPoE instead.

City fibre did the old mans area over the summer and now that his contract is up in Jan (currently on NOW broadband 67mb with all inclusive calls for £28) had a quick look over the weekend for deals and Vodafone seem the only ones who will do full fibre.

So for 100mb + all inclusive calls on Vodafone it'll be £32 while NOW are offering £30 to renew on existing terms but possibly some haggle room. What would you guys do?

Avoid Voda shocking company.

I have dealt with a fair amount of different companies customer services and Voda is the worst.

If I was in your old mans place I would look at going with someone for another 12 months and see if other providers appear (his area may have Voda exclusive deal for first 6-12 months)

It is tough for people wanting landlines most providers are expensive with call bundles.

Will probably wait till after Xmas and see if any deals pop up in the sales but yeah wanting the inclusive calls does jack up costs and limits the options.

Giganet still haven’t gone live in my area, despite ordering it at the beginning of October, and other providers now supplying FTTP via Cityfibre without issues.

I’ve contacted them a number of times about it, as, frustratingly, they are the cheapest and offer the best terms, but the dates I’m being given keep going past without any notices/emails.

If it wasn’t for the fact it was 3 months free and no exit fee, I would have left by now, but I’ll give them a chance and see how I get on.
they have gone live here today, being the next county there is a reasonable chance yours has too, its worth looking anyway

Will see how this goes, scheduled for the 13th Jan to swap my current provider to Giganet still on city fibre network, everything has been confirmed just got to wait for the router to turn up, not a fan of having to install a app to get it up and running but we'll see.

I'm fairly sure the app is optional, it's just there as the most likely way that people might want to be walked through the setup process

word of warning - not sure this is the case for everwhere, but I'm on city fibre with No One and I signed up to Giganet and they cancelled my order as they said I had to completely leave my other ISP before they can connect me. Seems very backward to me but that's what they have done. So I would ring them if I was you because as far as I was aware I had it all set up with Giganet too. Their customer service seems a bit rubbish the couple of times I've spoken to them.

Already checked it :) they seem to have improved their system as originally they put a hold on the order but said why and that I needed to reply to the ticket with confirmation of the date my current provider is cancelling services.

what today? lol coz I'm talking only yesterday that they did this to me. I have to say I hope their broadband is better than their customer service. First guy just couldn't be bothered at all, second time a woman that didn't know what she was doing told me that my order had been cancelled even though they sent me through an order confirmation and set up a direct debit. If I hadn't of phoned I wouldn't have even known because they haven't contacted me. Fortunately for me I also have virgin media or I would be without internet for 10 days or however long they will take.

Yesterday I got the order on hold message after placing the order, confirmation of cancellation date sent over last night, reply today with the confirmation date of my switch date to Giganet and what they are doing in the period between today and my live date.

my contract with no one is being cancelled tomorrow, if I manage to get someone who can be bothered to do their job I might even get my Giganet on order! then the long wait just for them to switch over...why that is such a big deal god only knows, it's not like they have to come out and install the fibre. Who did you spopeak to at Giganet I might just ask to speak to them as so far they have been poor

The orders department are who have been getting in touch with me via tickets, not customer services.

My Giganet got installed today. £40 a month no contract. 900mb up/down.

Been doing WiFi tests all day can't get above 300mb down and about 500mb up.

Now I know WiFi isn't going to top out but I thought I'd get more than that.

Worst is homeplugs, not sure what speeds they are but was only getting 100mb up/down with them so went back to WiFi.

Should I be expecting faster over the WiFi?
