City Fibre

CityFibre have 2000 staff and are backed with billions in private equity including the UAE state and the parent company of IKEA. They should be capable of processing wayleaves.

very odd, in coventry cityfibre lines are sent to houses via telegraph poles and not underground.
That's not odd for CityFibre and actually it's quite common now, I'm not in Coventry but have the same.

they use the Openreach delivery poles/ducts thanks to Physical infrastructure access (PIA)
They put their own CityFibre poles up in my area, so there's both Openreach & CityFibre poles down most roads now.

I've had a great result.

I've been working with Lisa at No One for the past few weeks to see if we could find a solution. We were struggling, so yesterday I sent an email to the CEO outlining the issues I'd been facing in a constructive email.

I heard back almost immediately, and I've just had my ONT installed.

Should I have needed to speak to senior management to get this sorted? No.

But the way they responded gives me hope that the problem lays with the way in which their messaging flows through the various chains of management, out to contractors, as opposed to coming from the top level.

Thoroughly impressed by the speed of the turn around, and chuffed that I don't have to pay BT £75 a month/renew my contract with them :-)

that is much better result than waiting around. Still sounds cant believe they denied drilling through wood....
Blockage is something they can't really do it on the day i.e. need digging permission and equipment (fences) to resolve it. The order has not been cancelled yet....

CityFibre - scammers i'd call them.

Long story short (sorry but it can't be short :p)

*CityFibre roll out in our area.
*Website states all permissions granted (was waiting over 2 years for this to go through)
*Website showing installation available at your address
*Signed contract with one of companies (I'll call it Company A)
*Installation date approved by both, company A and CF.
*Few days before installation got phone call from company A that CF need to survey building. Ok, got day off to attend survey as they required - as it is multi dwelling unit as they call it.
*At time of survey CF said it will be pretty hard to install and gone.
*Speaking to company A regarding survey - to find out they didn't know about it - nevermind I had a phone call from gent claiming to be working for them (could be CF engineer claiming so but nvm). *Day before installation email from company A saying your installation is on hold until further notice.
*Trying to find out more, they cannot provide estimated date
*1 week later email from company A that contract is cancelled and installation won't go through.

Just scam. Don't waste your time on these guys.
CF are paranoid about wayleaves on HMO's, they seem more strict than VM and BT.

I have a contact from their wayleave team, and as soon as I told him my flat has no communal area, own front door etc, I pay my own council tax, the tone changed immediatly to "send me an email when you order and the wayleave will be waived".

they are using Openreach ducts. It is not their fault the duct is blocked

The problem is the work culture in the UK.

1st Team comes to put the cones out and paint the lines
2nd Team comes to dig everything up
3rd Team comes to lay the cables
4th Team comes to tunnel to your property
5th Team comes to connect to your property finds a blockages
6th Team comes to clear the blockage
5th Team comes back to connect

This is pretty much how my install went with CityFibre I also had a blockage in the ducts that needed clearing though they were new ducks for CityFibre and not OpenReach and we're block right away.

Things would be a lot quicker if a single team completed a project from start to finish but no it's all mixed up which just delays and adds time to the overall process.

Happy overall I use Gigantic 900up and down for 40 a month really happy with the performance so far.

Only annoying things is I can rarely find a platform that will max the download speeds out!

We have Cityfibre in our road, and our Virgin is finally due to finish contract so will be switching. Looking at providers, no one seem to get good reviews and word of mouth, and they provide Static IP which Is obviously great. Looking at the prices the 900/900 is £1 more than the 500/550 package.

Any reason to avoid no one, or is there another provider that can be recommended?

Thanks for your time.

Check on the CityFibre website before you comit to any provider, if you search your postcode they will let you know who will be operating in your area. also worth checking others too, i'm on GigaNet they were not even promoted on the website, worth popping your postcode into multiple full fibre providers to see if they will be coming to your area you might end up getting a better deal for a lower price.

Also went with No One, haven't had the issues you've had but customer service throughout has been really good. The few times I called to clarify some details before signing up they answered the phone quickly and were very helpful.

Connection performance is as advertised:
