Civilization V

I'm finding civ 5 and g&k a little disappointing compared to 4. Units magically turning into boats was a WTF moment when I first saw it! The diplomacy also seems watered down compared to 4. It doesn't seem possible to end things like open borders and you can't gift units to other civilisations except AI city states?

Given how long it takes to produce military units the last thing I would want to do is start gifiting units away. Civ 5 g&k makes conquest victories a lot harder compared to civ 4, you can no longer stack units and to conquer cities combined arms strategy of air/naval units, infantry and range weaponry is the only way and that takes times to build up forcing you to focus on developing your civilisation other areas.

Im playing a game with 22 Civs and huge map, its just impossible to win by conquering surely.

Early era siege units just get in the way anyway. Once they get 3 range is when they really become awesome.

and to the above poster...wow, most I've ever played is like 7 Civs.

22 Civ's must take an age to process each turn, especially if you don't use things like the Quick Combat. With 22 Civ's those denunciations must fly around faster than bullets.

Yep I just wanted to play a massive game, and the game does get bogged down later on and have to turn on quick moves/quick combat etc.
Otherwise those damned BOMBARDMENT (cant get that Simpsons clip out of my head now!), get really long and annoying.

I hate the animations for the planes. Like 20 seconds to watch one plane take off and bomb a city 20 tiles away and then come back. The AI usually have several planes :<

How do you prevent other civs from winning a diplomatic victory, seems a bit of a cop out victory based on the crappy AI tbh.

Save up large wads of cash and bribe all the City States the turn before the UN vote. For bonus fun: if an AI also has a lot of cash in hand you can offer them all your GPT in exchange for it, then declare war on them after bribing away all their CS allies with their own money. :D

Yanks get it first, the rest of the world isn't fat or entitled enough to get it two days early you see. Go sue everybody that breaths and eat everything that you see and you can get your Civ expansions two days early. :)
