Civilization V

Hmm wasn't there a thing a year or two ago where people were doing that to buy steam games from elCheapistan or where ever and then started getting their games locked without refund due to buying outside of their region?

I doubt that as people can buy games and gift them to anyone outside their region anyway?

And also I thought you are allowed to access your steam account from anywhere in the world. I bought mine within my region anyway, this would be the same as going to the US and accessing my account from there.

Someone in this thread is offering to buy games in £ for people who have to pay in E too.

Also, LOL ...

In case you missed it, here's the two ustream clips. Part one is the very beginning stages of the game, whereas Part two is set in the latter portion of the game. The two developers explain many features and answer a lot of questions from the ustream chat throughout the show, definitely worth watching!

excellent link. looking forward to this.

cant decide if i want the steam deluxe or the retail collectors

I seem to remember CivIII and CivIV having performance issues during the later stages of huge map games. I haven't played any of the Civ games for a couple of years because of this, I wonder if the new title will suffer from this as well.

Hex based grid will certainly add a new dynamic to the game. New headaches too I imagine.

never played a Civilization game but I had a look at the review on gametrailers and i'm tempted to pick it up, seems really interesting
Were the older games hard to get into?

For some reason I cant find the retail collectors at the usual big names... must be looking in the wrong places possibly?

try a shop which sells game consoles and games on the highstreet

can anyone help me decide on steam deluxe or retail collectors?

if i get it on steam i can play the demo on tuesday and the full on friday - correct?
if i get retail will it be delivered on (or before) friday?

I managed to get into Civ 2 when I were 12?

Its not that hard. normally you will screw up your first few games, but then get better at you learn.

In my first ever game of civ II on Chieftan difficulty, I were still spamming Phalanxes while the AI reached steam power and had industrial age cities.

Loved all the Civs since 1 on the Amiga. Last few releases end game has become too taxing with micro management of massive numbers of units. Hoping the limitation on the numbers of armed units you can employ in Civ V will help alleviate this.

I think stopping the stacks of doom will add much more to the gameplay and should add to the battles, really looking forward to this

No more stacks of doom and hex tiles = much more Chess style strategic combat.

Indeed. Not only that, but each resource is now finite, which means if you have access to Iron you will only be able to build a limited number of units which utilise Iron.

I think you said it best bhavv this is actually the first time in Civ history where every unit move can have reprucussions.

By the way, I was tempted to buy the Special Edition (retail version).

Can you tell me why you opted to go for the online one?

£10 less, includes Babylon, and I didnt care about the figurines.

Also the boxed CE will likely end up at a bargain price later on as they usually do, I can buy it then and sell the key, I've done that a few times before.
