Civilization V

On an early shift tomorrow as well - so absolutely no chance of staying up late and playing for a couple hours before bed. Stupid midnight release and stupid work :D
 
Just got my copy in the post now :D
looking forward to playing this

Edit: Not installing :o Guess I have to wait till tomorrow?

I do this with the game(s) I'm currently playing the most.
I install them onto my D: drive (normal HDD), and then move/copy+rename the appropriate directory over to the C: drive (SSD) and make a link.

So, for instance, I copied the MW2 maps directory over to the SSD for faster level loading, then rename the original directory on the D drive to make way for the link, and then link to the directory on the SSD with the following command...
mklink /D "d:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\call of duty modern warfare 2\zone" "c:\SSD Games\Steam\steamapps\common\call of duty modern warfare 2\zone"

I've yet to install Civ5, so can't tell you the appropriate directory to copy and link, but it will probably be in the steam\steamapps\common directory.

This is with Win7 - didn't have a SSD before, so no idea if linking was the same in previous versions of Windows.
 
Is it midnight this unlocks? I went with Gimpymoos offer to buy it for me, still waiting for the gift of it over steam. Hope I'm playing this tomorrow.. I've got a weekend free for this!
 
I think that the steam version unlocked around 6pm tomorrow. Remember the 24hr sales that went from 6pm-6pm rather then 12am to 12am?

My Steam says that it becomes available at midnight tonight. I may have no choice but to play it all night and go to work knackered :D
 
Jeez, this timed activation crap is a pain in the ****. Whatever happened to the days where you just put the disc in and started playing?

I buy on average about 2 games a year and I swear each game brings with it an ingenious new way to suck the fun out of it.

Grrrr.

i came in to post exactly the same thing. i have the ****** game in my hand, i can't even install it :mad:
