Civilization V

why cant i play a game i have in my HAND? FS, First F1 2010 was playing up due to Windows Live rubbish, now Civ5 wont install due to Steam rubbish. Im seriously thinking of giving up on PC gaming.....

Been playing the demo on my laptop and I'm really impressed with how well it runs. It's only on medium-low settings, 1280*768 res, but it still looks awesome and runs really smoothly at a solid 60FPS (according to Fraps). Definitely going to pick this up at some point :)

I agree the mrs is out tonight as well I was going to play civ until midnight but FUUUUUUU steam!!!

Can't be bothered with the US proxy thing, didnt work the first time and gave up :o

I'm normally up round about midnight so i'll just do it then, though it is stupid I can't play it earlier

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but I think it will unlock at 1am... it says on the 2k forum that it unlocks Worldwide: September 24 @ 00:00 UTC (GMT). We're on BST atm so it looks like its 1am

Two things to note if doing using the proxy to unlock early - Back up your pre install first. After managing to unlock with the proxy, stay in offline mode permanently until release. After the game is officially released, delete your proxied folder and copy over your pre install backup, and unlock it again normally.

Steam cant find out that your acount is playing Civ V early, and resetting the installation once is released should remove any kind of tracking in your installed files.

If you go online and start getting early time and hours clocked onto your account, you will probably end up banned.

Uh oh. I never made a back up. Might have a look about and see if there are certains files I could delete that have saved my history while i've been playing offline.

Still says approx 2 hours until unlock for me... Though that could be some terrible rounding down from 2hours 57mins.

One thing I'm not sure about in the new version is the no stacking of units, seems to be about what you build then and not rather how many

anyone receive their civ 5 (collectors) from the retail highstreet game shop today?

i paid for next day delivery and they only posted it today

if they delay preorders by 1 day to account for the quicker delivery then this makes the next day delivery 100% a waste of money

Just delete the Civ 5 installation after launch then and re dowload the whole thing.
