Civilization V

Is it just me, probably is, or isn't there a screen that was in Civ IV which you could bring up and it would inform you by looking at it who is at war with who by clicking on each of the Civs, if that makes sense.!..?
I am at war with Lizzy but the other Civs are grumbling at me and I would like an overview of their relationships and military strength.

You can get that info from the Global Politics tab of the Diplomacy Overview.

I often use the Overviews, the demographics one is one of my favourites, sadly I dont think too many people know or seem to know of the overview pages.

Anyone reached the peak of Civ5's performance?

I reached a plateau where no matter how much I turned down to the lowest settings, my game keeps crashing when the AI does their turns.

It started happening on a large map with 8 opponents, first time it occurred I scaled back the performance .... this seemed to have worked ... then I get it again, scaled performance down and it works for a bit more .... I keep doing this until everything is low and it kept crashing everytime now.

I'm on XP running DX9 with 1920x1200 resolution ..... even tried windowed mode at 1600x1050 with lowest settings and it still crashed!

Not sure about the peak, but I play on the huge earth map with 12 civs and 24 city states and everything turned on/at max, with 4x AA and although I had some crashing on the first day of release I havent crashed since. Played through 4 times now on that map without a crash. (running on DX11 with Windows 7)

Couldnt tell you why though.

oooo thanks for that. I was one of those people until I have just become enlightened :D

fix for the puppet/production bug. havent tried it myself yet though.

To fix this bug temporarily so you can continue with the game:

1) open the file sid meier's civilization v\Assets\UI\InGame\Popups\ProductionPopup.lua in Notepad or any other text editor

2) Go down to line 710 and comment out the following 3 lines by adding 2 dashes in front, so they look like the following:

Code:

-- if city and city:IsPuppet() then
-- return;
-- end

courtesy of civfanatics
3) save file and exit

So what's everyone's favourite civ? Have to admit that I like playing as India, purely for the bonuses associated with population - makes happiness so much simpler to control!

Persia

Very good UU with the immortal

Great UB with the Court thing instead of the bank. An extra 25% gold is good but add +2 happiness per building and it's very powerful.

Persia's ability is 50% extra Golden Age. Used correctly they're an immense Civ.

Arabia at the minute. A gold and happiness powerhouse and their Camel Archers are awesome. Although I still prefer China's UU.

Definitely the civ im enjoying being at the moment at the most!! The immortals are much better now copper is no longer a key resource (making them available from about turn 25) and are a nice boost for that early war that usually happens

The Aztecs attacked my allied city state, didn't want to go to war so I just surrounded the city and it slowly killed all the Aztec units :)

im not liking the fact that you dont have filled in borders like old civs, instead you have cities sitting in little culture islands, with gaps in between.

Persia are immense.

Immortals are perfect for cleaning up any early scum that wanted to live on your continent.

never ending golden ages and that bank that is a happy maker too....

i just finished a game on +70 happiness... that never happens when i play.

Alexander the great is the biggest ***** ever, im goign to kill him on sight now, all he does in conquer everything he can see. Also insult me.
