They've certainly tweaked the map scripts. Continents are a lot more interesting and have more resources spread about.

Played a game of this last night. Ive never had to do this on other 4x games but playing on quick made this game about 10 times more enjoyable. I would rather a long game but the units/buildings just take far too long on this one. Playing at this speed I'm excited about the game again!

Mod on the steam workshop called Extended Eras may interest you, it adds a new game speed called historic which makes research take longer but building and unit build times are reduced so you can actually have proper wars in each era rather than finally research something to have it be obsolete instantly.

Arghh, I put in 3 good hours yesterday taking two cities from the Inca only for the game to crash and yes I hadn't saved it all night. I was to mad to reload the game does this come with an autosave feature?

yes it does auto save forgot what the default number of turns are.

I believe default is 10.

Default is 5 turns I think but you can change it to how ever many turns

Edit: or it might be 10 lol

Thank god for that although now i think about it i can change from my warfare strategy do a more expansive one to pull further ahead. Thanks to all for your replies!

Why? What did it do? I noticed a patch was released yesterday but I didn't notice any changes

Oh, didn't realise another one had just been released. There was one last month.

After installing, I would get all sorts of weird stuff happening, for example, I got the 'Ruins Found' sound but nothing on screen, the about 5 turns later I got a notification about it but by the that already been found by someone else!

Plus none of my current saves would load in the new version :mad:

Definitely worth giving it another go, I've had no problems yet.

Same here. Never had any problems with it and I've accumulated around 150hrs game time

The only problems that I have had is that I keep getting beaten. When people refer to the AI as being as dumb as a bag of spanners I suppose that says more about my playing strategy, however flawed, than it does about the AI.
