Clarkson, Hammond and May sign with Amazon Prime for new car show

Do Netflix only and Amazon Only and other online content ever make it onto Dave or other terrestial channels?

I don't pay for any cable/satellite tv services (don't watch much tv really, generally just films and box sets, and I hate football) and only pay the TV licence because I do watch the BBC from time to time.

If it will be aired on Dave or something like that then I'm happy to wait, I don't really want to pay for a subscription service that I am unlikely to use.

I they charge say £0.99 for an episode or something reasonable then I'd probably watch it.

Amazon Prime TV does usually allow you to pay per episode to their TV shows. It's a bit more than 99p though IIRC.

If you look at something like House of Cards the only regions where it was broadcast is where Netflix is unavailable.

Similar to how HBO don't let streaming sites pick up their shows to protect their core subscriber revenue, I don't see them selling it to TV for such a big name show for a good few years.

How is it the equivalent? Maybe you should look up what equivalent means...

I know what it means, thank you.

equivalent
ɪˈkwɪv(ə)l(ə)nt/
adjective
1.
equal in value, amount, function, meaning, etc.
"one unit is equivalent to one glass of wine"
synonyms: equal, identical; More
noun
1.
a person or thing that is equal to or corresponds with another in value, amount, function, meaning, etc.
"the French equivalent of the Bank of England"
synonyms: counterpart, parallel, alternative, match, complement, analogue, double, twin, opposite number; More
2.
CHEMISTRY
the mass of a particular substance that can combine with or displace one gram of hydrogen or eight grams of oxygen, used in expressing combining powers, especially of elements.

...besides, what I actually said was "digital equivalent". Either way, you're paying for the content, not the media.

Must be bs, they were out of contract at the time. You can only be bound by a contract whilst in it. To keep contracts like that valid you have to keep paying them. Often called gardening leave. Imagine the uproar if the bbc had to keep paying Clarkson for five years lol.

No unfortunately you can be prevented from working for competitors for a period of X months after leaving a previous employer/fixed term contract if its in your terms.

In the last job we had to fire a national sales manager because he had just left 3663 and he still had 35 months of a 36 month competitor restriction in place.

Breaking Bad used to be a Netflix only thing. I know it's been on Chanel 5 recently. So it's not something that couldn't happen.

Ripper Street has been picked up and is now made by one of the streaming services, with BBC then getting second showing rights to broadcast it on TV later.

Would be funny if BBC bought it to show later and thus showed NuTopGear and TopGearClassic :p

Imagine the outrage if they indirectly paid for Clarkson :D

Just seen the Clarkson and Co. News!

Although my love for Top Gear has dwindled over recent years - mainly due to its sheer spam and little car reviews. I really do admire the teams friendship.

No doubt Clarkson's minions were offered the opportunity to remain at the BBC. I like the idea of showing them the middle finger and sticking with their mate. The BBC must be sweating right now.

It's a shame the BBC is owned by the public. If privately owned JC would still be on our screens.

Oh well. And all the best to them. They will be successful online

So you think it's the equivalent, even though one is a copy being made, and the other is one being taken for good, thus depriving the store of it?

They're really equivalents?

Just because Amazon are creating and showing it doesn't mean there's no possibility of it being on a regular tellybox channel such as ITV or Dave.

BBC started Ripper Street and discontinued it after 2 series, Amazon picked it up for further series and BBC now pay Amazon to show it on their own channel again.

It says in one of the reports that because they 100% own the license for the series, they can sell it to other TV broadcasters, so it will come to Tv no doubt, just might be a while.

I still have Prime signed in from a Mate's account though so I'm good to go unless they other wise, and i'll find other means.

Hopefully it will be filmed in 4K
