Clocking Advice/Tips Needed

Ok thanks.

Started Prime and I see something happening and the processor are running 100%. How long does this go on for?

Do you also have core temp open to monitor temps?

what are your temps at the moment via core temp when running prime?

keep prime running ideally for 8 hours. If there is system instability prime will fail ie it will flash red and inform you of an error/ fail.

Post back your temp reading for all four cores

I do have core temp but its reading high temps.

Im using PC Probe that came with the Mobo and thats saying the CPU at idle is 33 Deg and now Im running Prime its saying under load its 53c.

Core Temp says the following:

Tjunction: 100c
Core 0: 65c
Core 1: 65c
Core 2: 59c
Core 3: 59c

Which is correct?

PS,

Core temp says the frequency is: 3599.87Mhz (449.98 x 8) which is wrong.

Core temp is correct as it takes the thermal readings directly from the chip die.

Those are good temps ;)

Let prime continue its run;)

Looking good:)

open CPUZ and that will confirm your overclock

System just crashed. Dont know if it was me cos I was using the system at the same time or Prime.

Will try again.

3599.87Mhz is your FSB

3599.87x9=3.2Ghz

3599.87x8=2.87Ghz

your multiplier is at 9 and not 8 CPUZ will confirm multi 9

Core temp is reporting the correct temps it is showing the FSB speed

CPUZ says the multiplier is X8 not 9.

Ok

uninstall core temp and then reinstall. That should take care of the issue. When you have done that post a core temp shot. When you run prime can you post an image of prime, coretemp, and cpuz please from your desk top.

ok its not a problem, core temp will still report the correct temps and CPUZ will show the correct over clock.

(may be another member will enlighten me to as why core temp reports the FSB in this manner when using a lower multiplier?)

Ok further reading has revealed It is a known problem with Core Temp. It uses an obsolete algorithm to detect clock speed, and it is inaccurate at times. A fix is planned, but currently it's not on the top of the priority list.

So Realist continue to use core temp for monitoring temps, CPUZ will show your correct over clock.

Core temp will not mis read your temps.

Are you using the latest version 95.4? http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/CoreTempBeta.zip

Ok will do.

Iam using the latest now ;) and I'll keep plugging away slowly.

Will carry on tomorrow now cos foods done and Im in bed at 9 up for work at 3:15am.

Regards.

Im back.

Tried to change settings up/down and kept at stock but finding a middle road is hard.

If I leave it as stock all's fine and the max I can run the CPU at without any failings is 3000 max and thats it. If I go over that the thing crashes and reboots.

I've upped the FSB no joy, I've upped the Vcore no joy and gone the other way and so far Im unable to get a top overclock apart from the 3.0Ghz max.

Wondering if its the mobo!

Regards.
