Clocking Advice/Tips Needed

yip the temp variations between the two cores is typical to the Quads. No need to be alarmed. Once the TIM cures properly the temps will drop again.

Allow the curing process to take place over the next 2-3 days. Then notch up the FSB at 5Mhz intervals. Well done by the way.

Are you still considering an alternative mother board?

Back again,

Lapped my chip but not my new Freezer 7 cooler and since I've lapped it the temps are OTT.

Have reapplied silver to the middle in a line and the temps are:

Idle:
50 51 48 48

Load Prime:
70 70 67 67

For the life of me I cant get the temps back down.

Any tips?

Just in terms of heat production - if you don't need 1.45V when 1.4V would do, then why use it all? Also - have to seen the other thread about overclocking and cooling P5K's? The guy on that thread was using 1.57V to get his 3.6GHz clock stable:eek:

That was me, and no it wasnt highm its cos the board I havve has a high V drop (same board this guy is using I think Asus P5KC) hence he needs more V. Mines fine tho as custom water and only gets to 54 C underload at the min. It did needs 1.57 any lower and failed prime

found on my lapped CPU and heatsink got the best performance spreading it out very thinly and then trying to remove as much as possible.. it is only there to fill the microscopic gaps not be a layer in itself

does the P5K-C have the voltage dampening option? sorted out my vdroop issue on my P5K-E

yup

if you do.. you will need to re-adjust your vcore... would check with it off in cpuz your idle vcore, then check idle with it on and make the adjustment down in your bios before you run a stability test or you might find with less vdroop you CPU will get rather warm due to its new high vcore under load

Hi Guys,

Its a P5K standard and I reapplied Arctic Silver as per their website and running as follows:

Temps idle: 48 46 44 44

Load with Prime is: 60 60 59 59 ish

Clocked at: 3520Mhz

I have 2 freezers here, one lapped and the current one Im using is standard, I've removed the fan from the old freezer and placed it over the top of the installed pro 7 so I have 2 CPU fans running.

Its holding temps but noisy as hell.

Might try a new cooler after Xmas.

Regards

Hi again,

Having a few problems of late and more help is called for.

I did the vdrop pencil mod and that worked a treat and now I dont see any drop at all, glad I did it but now running at 3600 as per attached pic.

The problem I have is when I run prime the temps hit 60 and has topped 71 on core 1 and 2 the system gives the BSOD and has rebooted.

Now, is it heat, ram, cooler or just actual settings?

Any ideas!

Regards.

Temps above are at idle.
