Rip sleeping patterns? It's 1hr ffs, have you ever tried going from working days, to working nights....

As a shift worker of sorts myself yeah 1 hour isn’t a big deal but it is a pain with little kids… especially when the clocks change and now they are waking up at 5am instead of 6am!

Also, there is actually a significant increase in heart attacks, other health disorders (some up to 10% higher) and even road traffic accidents after the clock change to DST, so it does actually have a health impact on a national level even though it’s only an hour… truth is that as shift workers our health is already sacrificed of course.

Wish we'd just pick one time zone and stick to it, hate the changes. I'd vote to keep BST because more daylight after work is much more useful than before work, and it'll be easier to change than convincing every employer to finish the working day at 4pm GMT rather than 5pm BST

I was reading that there is a bill going through the US political system to keep them on their current time and not change. Their time jumped forward a couple of Sundays ago.

Please, you know what I mean.

I'm perfectly OK with BST, as mentioned, rather than ask my employer to start an hour earlier/leave an hour earlier, I don't have to and just enjoy "longer" evenings when the weather is nice..

People complaining sound like those that have 'duvet days' or 'jet lag' after every flight or take a week off every time they have a sniffle

The fundamental issue is that GMT could do with being permanently "+1", lets face it guys, we invented it and got it wrong!

Just like an VCR, its out of date so we have no need for it anymore.
Thinking it is out of date is one thing but it feels like there is a serious dislike for it.

I have heard that the reverse is true. So a negative affect when the clocks go forward and a positive affect when the clocks go back. I haven't had a chance to confirm if this is true though.

My twice annual comment.

Yay BST!

And

Can't we just keep GMT+1 all year?
Ideally I'd like GMT+2
But I'll compromise for GMT+1

Can we have a poll? It would be interesting to find how many weirdos actually like BST?

I happy to have my mind changed. What's actually wrong with BST?

At the moment it's light at 6am, and it's still light after 6pm.

With GMT+1, it just shifts things to later in the day - or have I completely got that wrong?

America is talking of getting themselves locked into Summertime. Whether that actually happens is another thing.

The height of summer on very solid clear days I remember it was completely light by 3am, navy blue sky from midnight with a hint of glow to 3am. Being outside after midnight with it being fresh/mild when the skies were never black was glorious.

This happened mainly all through July, somewhat the first half of August.

But what is clocks?

When I wind my watch forward an hour, where does that time go? Can I get it back?

What if I go too far?

It's the sensible choice.
I think (at least I hope) if given the choice most would go for BST.

I'm sure most people would choose to not have the clocks change.
I hope most would like BST
