COD Black Ops looks pretty good on PC

Just got booted from my first server by a butthurt admin, went 32-1 and just before the round ended he kicked me out. Went back in to the usual bs "Making room for clan member", laughable.

I did notice though, no kill streak rewards go towards your top kill streak, which is a shame, so instead of being 31 it is only 18. :(

I got a few hours play around a mates and here is my verdict:

graphically it is fine, looks like any recent cod game and some levels did look v. nice, basic gameplay (he had no stuttering issues) is OK, biggest beef for me was the fact they've not nerfed knifes, I still got knifed from halfway across a large room in a way that never happened in cod4. My main gripe for me is all the extra crap they've added, cod4 you just had guns and a couple of kill streaks, with this theres so much extra crap going on its just stupid, theres a really crap cash mechanic which seems to add nothing, they've added lots of silly perks like 2 attachments, your constantly on the look out for stupid little cars, theres all manner of turrets and other crap like that and basically, theres so much going on it just detracts from the actual gun play which I do quite like, so I personally will be sticking to cod4, but if you liked MW2 you'll like this, but personally, getting chased by dogs + cars + air drops + all manner o other things = less fun.

Yeah, bit annoying, I think I could have got up to 40 before the round was over!

I have found my fave load-out now I think, with maybe 1 or 2 adjustments it has epic potential.

I am having exactly the same problem with a machine wth an identical spec. It is unplayable. There is more to it than CPU choice as the machine obviously runs MW2 flawlessly.

My main machine has a 3Ghz Quad Core with a GTX285 and it runs it perfectly at the same resolution. The specs are not THAT different.

Any workarounds?
 
just tried to do online zombies.. what a total joke.

if you do manage to find players (really, if you do somehow achieve this feat) no-one readys up. if i leave the lobby, i click search and immediately says no players found and i have to sit through that ****ing cut scene again.. (you know, the one what plays if you if at any time you go to a previous menu......)

I have a 3.6 ghz q9450 with a 260 gtx at same res, game is fine maxed out.

I have noticed something odd.

In game settings mp .cfg, seta r_multicore was turned off (ie, single core cpu) as standard, so i changed that to 1 (on) yet seta r_multigpu was set to 1, yet i only have one card, so i turned that off (0).
 
Using the netgraph I'm seeing almost every server does not have enough bandwidth - which means either the host links are saturated/insufficent or they are all running with the default(5000)/too low max rate settings :( which is not contributing to smooth gameplay.

I've tried changing multicore to 1 and it made no difference.

I don't get it - it runs perfectly on my main machine. But it doesnt look or feel like a game that requires 4 cores!

My friend is having trouble getting this game to work. He bought it on steam and he keeps getting the error blackops.exe has stopped working. He's reinstalling now for the 3rd time and hes tried verifying the integrity of the game cache a few times as well to no avail. Is anybody else having this problem?
 
That 'snaps 30' fix seems to have improved my stuttering but a lot of times I get into a firefight I still seem to stutter like mad meaning I usually have to get the drop on someone to kill them. :(

At least Treyarch could come out and say there's a problem and give an ETA on a hotfix/patch but they haven't even done that yet...

Im having terrible issues its unplayable for me. Stuttering and lagging all over the show I have tried setting everything to low and the fps and issues do not differ from when everything is set to max..

what a load of ****

Personally I am loving the galil, and now raping with the bolt action sniper and acog.

Look at it this way, if admins kick people that are dominating, that server isn't going to be very busy eventually.
 
Tried to get into a zombies coop game online but no joy....just get a message very time everyone ready up's that the game session has been lost or something. :(
