COD Black Ops looks pretty good on PC

I don't see it, MW2 didnt go on it's first sale till well into 2010 if memory serves. I think it was easter if not even later than that.

I think it was yeah. I bought the retail PC copy from Game nov 2009 for £34.99 and 3-4 months later it was still the same price at many stores.

For some reason steam is usually £5-10 more than hard copy versions of the game. I bought the new fallout for 25. Its strange because with the hard copy, you have the manufacturing, packaging and distribution yet steam costs more just for a download.

But the recent CODs seem to be demanding a higher price over the normal price of PC games.

In the last six months or so a lot of new releases have been around the £25 mark, even from the cheapest places. You can still get some new releases for less than £20, but they are getting fewer and far between.

Did manage to get Black Ops for less than £24.74 on pre order, but only by using 2 discount codes.

I understand that people are entitled to their own opinions.

But, BC2 is currently the top fps out in the market.... maybe not in your opinion, but overall Iv heard so many other say the same.

Up untill COD4 every COd got better and better, and culminated with the orgasm that was COD4.

However WAW, I didnt by for like 9moths after launch becuase COD4 was so good. A few days after sampling the multiplayer in WAW, I realized how crap it was, and how abslutly fantastic COd4 was so I took WAW back.

MW2, took Infinity Ward back to a dark place. They broke everything that was good in MW1 and consolized the game. Epic fail!

No dedicated servers was one thing but, for me the killer was the extremely small players per team in multiplayer. 6v6 is pathetic. Even more pathetic when a few drop out and your left, 4v4 or 2v3.... garbage and fundamentally broken.

Then came along BFBC2! Hallelujah. I was looking for a game that was at least in some way team based. This is the closest Iv seen. Add to that its a top notch fps and great graphics. Left MW2 way behind.

Black Ops? Well, I see the dogs are back (Typical Tryearch crap) and the small team sizes are there again. So it looks like no lessons have been learnt.

Add to that all Treyarch COD's have sucked!

When BF3 comes out, that will further push Dice and the Battlefiled series in the forefront of FPS and COD will be the one in the back seat.

All this coming from a COD fan boi!

The fact that MW2 did not have dedicated servers was a massive mistake and you are entitled to your opinion. However, MW2 did 550 Million in sales in it's first 5 days, so based on popularity it wins. Personally I paid the BC2 beta and I thought it was very boring. I actually paid for MOH and if I could sell it (having played the single player which was awesome) I would. Even without dedicatd servers MW2 MP > MOH MP 1 year on ...

I agree with some of your post. Such as up to COD4, COD just kept on improving (except COD3, but PC CODs kept on improving). However COD:WAW just moved COD4s engine and the fact it had numerous more weapons then previous CODs back to WW2, which for some people is what COD was all about in the first place. It didn't add anything to COD4, expcept arguably smoother graphics, but it didn't exactly take anything away. The weapons were slightly different meaning that the COD4 elitist CS-like pros didn't like it as they weren't necessarily good at it anymore (sounds like CSS and CS1.6 again...:S).

Treyarch also made COD:UO, which is a highly regarded expansion to the original Call Of Duty.

As far as COD3 goes, I've never played it, but am I right in thinking that was console only and not well received? If so, that's 1/3 flop cod games so far by them.

MW2 was made by IW, who up until MW2 were regarded as the innovators when it came to COD. They created the first game, (which was very simular to MOH anyway...) and they seemed to introduce the better new features to the series as it went on. Then they seemed to start to focus more on consoles with MW2 and on omitting both the command console and dedicated servers, pretty much alienated a lot of COD fans.

All Treyarch have done is what they've always done and tweaked an already existing COD game and made a new game out of it, not necessarily a bad thing. They've reintroduced dedicated servers and as far as I know the command console is coming back. Time will tell if the game will be better then IW's, but I think your seeing Treyarch from a COD4 Elitist perspective which is not alltogether fair.

Of course you are entitled to your own opinion, I just thought I'd voice why I reckon you are wrong! :p

The truth is, well in my opinion there hasn't been any great FPS for a long time. For me the last game which I truly enjoyed was BF2, maybe I'm just getting old. I played that for 3 yrs, the scope of it was immense, and playing the same maps didn't get boring (unlike BC2). There are also some well thought out mods. I'm hoping BF3 doesn't disappoint.

The problem is there arent any Pc exclusives anymore. They cant make a fps for the pc, as they also have to make the same thing work for consol, so enevitable they have to factor in tothe pc version of games the consol limitations!

I can't understand the complaints about the price of the game, i have over 834 hours on CoD4, over 428 hours on WaW and i even have over 446 hours on MW2 (even though it has some major flaws and i was boycotting the game until most of my clan started playing it) that is some SERIOUS value for money and i did not hesitate to pre-order Black Ops from Steam as soon as it was available.

Edit: reading that back it looks like i also have a SERIOUS addiction to online FPS's

Were complaining because all of a sudden the shops are cashing in and upping the price from some at £25 to £34 and up. Even from 29.99 to 34.99 is over 15% so pretty damn shocking and they are all doing it so its like price fixing :p

I'm not getting it anyway since it wont run on the best system in my house hold (I'm gald I bought MOH)

call of duty games are not the most demanding out there, i could run mw2 on my 4830 at max settings with 80+ fps*.. my resolution is only 1360x768 though, so im not pushing the boundaries of performance in anyway :D

*i doubt black ops will be much more graphically different than the previous titles

Been playing on MW2 last week or so to dust off the rust! (I'm a winter gamer lol)
Can't wait for Black Ops, hopefully the dedicated servers will sort out some of the mess, and if they can anyway cull all the hackers than that would be perfect!

Black Ops is a five year old engine, gaming PC's built within the last five years will have no problem with its dated graphics and physics

My 8800 GTS 640 played MW2 on max with no issues what so ever

its more to do with the cpu spec in this latest game.

Call of Duty: Black Ops PC Minimum System Requirements:

OS: Windows® Vista / XP / 7
Processor: Intel® Core™2 Duo E6600 or AMD Phenom™ X3 8750 or better
Memory: 12 GB free hard drive space / 2GB RAM
Video Card: Shader 3.0 or better 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600GT / ATI Radeon® X1950Pro or better

a 5 yr old system wouldnt be near that .thats only minimum aswell

I really wanted to buy this until I saw thwe price: €60! Wow! I cannot pay that for a game, does anyone know if anywhere is selling is at a reasonable price?

Otherwise I might wait til it's reduced, I did that with WAW and it was good.
