COD Black Ops looks pretty good on PC

Does anyone else find that sometimes on MP they do really well and sometimes crap?

I know its probably same in any game and I haven't noticed it but sometimes I struggle just to break even with my k/d ratio but last night I managed to get 19 kills - 1 death on hardcore tdm and played just like awesome. :D

You must be joking.

BC2 had major problems also; Graphic bugs, crashes, poor performance, etc...

Took Dice quite a while to fix also.

Don't forget the patch where they completely screwed up knife hitreg so you could stab stationary Snipers in the back 5 times and hit nothing.

You have good games where things go your way and bad games where you keep getting shot in the back/sides and things never work out well. Its just a fact of online gaming.

Please tell me how to do this.

When I install steam on XP it downloads the game again.

If I copy the steam apps folder to XP from Win 7 Steam doesn't even want to load :(

I had game and steam installed on a 2nd hard drive and i just opened steam up from there and it ran.

Getting about 70-80 fps with shadows off at 1900x1200 not bad for a 3 year old card :)

Can get 90 all the time if i drop to lower resolution with shadows on but prefer it at native resolution

So glad i didnt rush out and buy a new card just yet :)

My name is jeff and i had a problem....

I can fully relate to people having issues with blackflops cos i did too. I upgraded to a quadcore and it just fixed everything for me, thats why im so angry that on some quads its still Fubar. I just hope they do fix it soon and not sweep it under the carpet.

As others have said, i will never buy another treyarch game in my life, ive been gaming 10 years and PC games are getting worse and worse to the point where i expect them to be crud on release. :( /sadface

Consistancy is hard to keep up.

I run Win7 64, my son runs XP 32. We both have stutter.

I have quad, he has dual, we both have GTX 460. We both have stutter

I use onboard audio, he uses USB. We both have stutter.

I have latest Nvidia driver, he has the one before. We both have stutter.

I did all the MP config tweak, he didn't. We both have stutter.

Well so good to have a fairly consistant framerate for the first time since release. I mean it still freezes and stutters fairly frequent though for what seems an age now; I have a playable MP game.

= this game is ****. clearly.

For those with 4 or more cores do not try it on a dual or single core:

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1620409

Its not fixed it for me but its massively reduced the amount of stutter I get and doubled my fps give or take which makes the game much more playable.

Edit: False alarm - with more testing while it seems to increase performance a little its still almost if not as stuttery in firefights and my system hard locked once might just be coincidence but it doesn't normally happen and thats the only thing I've changed.

No such thing as rushed games, as games that don't get rushed still have the same problems.

No such thing as rushed games? ........... please pull the other one

There's no way this game should have been released pre-Christmas, it needs another 6 months of work. The only reason it was released is because of Christmas, released just before the masses do their Christmas shopping.

I think it's safe to say, apart from Indie developers, there is only one developer that gets it right first time on a regular basis and that's valve, I very very rarely buy games made by anyone else any more as every time i do i end up being VERY disappointed. Not only that but the ****s have charged £40 for it on the PC, it's never worth that much!

BC2 was no better either so i don't see why anyone would try and defend that, it crashed to desktop regularly and still does for some people. It was practically unplayable on release for some people depending on their setups.

Lol, I really love how people keep saying it shouldn't have been released at this time and should have spent this much time, blah blah. Fact is, doesn't matter if the game was released before Christmas, at Christmas or after Christmas, people would still have bought it regardless, and still had problems regardless.

No game is 100% perfect, hell even people still have problems with older games.

In my eyes, they released a perfectly working game, as I have had no problems, and neither have the people I play with, runs just as good as previous COD games.

Also, this is why more games are being focused on consoles, less hassle and problems as console are the same spec. There could be million to one reasons why you and certain others are having problems, and other people aren't.

The way the life of PC gaming is.

So come down from that high horse of yours please.

Thanks.

Has everyone who has lag/stutter problems tried this?
I am on Windows7 64 bit aswell, the same as the source's O.S.; along with a e8400 @4.2 ghz and a 5850.

It has stopped running like molasses and made this game fun for me, so much so I have just been running about jumping over cars, like I've been born free; :D totally loving the increased fluidty.
*Sigh.
*Begging your pardons on the faux pas of quoting myself; this has to help someone else, as much as it has for me and others it seems.

holy **** this works, had problems for agges then do this and the stuttering/laggy heavy feel thoughout gameplay has gone.

game still has issues with optimised but the major issue with laggy/stuttering feel has gone.

N.I.C.E F.I.N.D :D

Thought I would post the specs of both my PCs on which I receive no problems with Black Ops.

Main PC;

i5 @ 4ghz (200x20)
4GB - Corsair Dominator DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel
Asus P7P55D-E Intel P55
Gigabyte GTX460 1GB @ 800/2000
Creative Extreme Gamer Sound Card

2nd PC;

E6600 @ 3.2ghz (400x8)
6GB - 2x2GB HyperX and 2x1GB Geil
Gigabyte DS3 Rev 1
XFX ATI HD 4890 XT
Creative Extreme Gamer Sound Card

Both Windows 7 64bit.

Main PC I get stable 125fps, 2nd PC is around 70-90fps.

You can argue about the technical issues all you frigging want, fact of the matter is some of the base functions are completely broken, absolutely dreadful or totally inadequate. Things that some decent play testers and a little time could have made considerably better, though who am i kidding, this is Activision.

You can't edit your killstreaks between rounds (not that those 10 seconds would be any use) or better yet, before your first spawn in a round. Its ridiculous considering something like a B-52 would be absolutely awesome on 1 map and completely useless on another, or it changes game mode which can also make your killstreaks useless, forcing you to leave to edit them. The zombie mode is so badly implemented it makes you wonder why they bothered at all. the 'lobby' system frequently means half the team ends up with 200 ping, not to mention there is zero help or advice in it. And a myriad of other issues that any half competant playtester could've suggested improvements for.

*massages forehead*

I have no problem with you liking the game as is mate, but please, please, please stop pretending posters, or anyone in general for that matter, are angry because the game is not perfect or approaching it. They are angry because they see the game as having faults that go beyond reason for a non-beta game.

Whether they are far off base on this or not, argue against them on their merits rather than some imagined argument. It just demeans your own point.

Swifty these mega games sell consoles at Xmas time, its all shrewd business strategy.

the game needed 3 or 4 extra weeks testing before release. I still think the next patch will iron out all the problems for another chunk of users. That will be nearly a month after release.
