COD Black Ops looks pretty good on PC

Working now. But I thought that the return of dedicated servers would usher the return of mods, larger numbers of players, better server customisability etc.

I suppose we can now ban hackers from servers and we don't get the P2P lag like in MW2, but its hardly like the days of COD4.

Can people still not connect, I can't. Why do we need steam anyway? The way it worked in COD4 + 5 + most PC games is fine. Steam's just annoying TBH.

The reason that the last 2 COD games are Steamworks games is so you can't sell your game on when you don't want it anymore.

Which to me is a glaring admission by Activision that it's second hand games that are the real lost sales and piracy is the scape goat all publishers use.

That's why they charge consoles for DLC, you are less likely to sell a game you have DLC for because the DLC doesn't transfer with the game.

As soon as publishers come up with a way to lock console games to the original buyer's console, the happier they with be.

Sony are already doing something similar with PSP games.

That's at least partly it. The other more valid reason is it stops zero day piracy dead, which I agree with - having worked on games that suffered massively from that.

I can't say I blame them, given that high street game shops are essentially pawn shops specialising in video games these days.

One of the reasons that PC games are scarce at retail is because you can't sell them second hand. The game stores make most of their profit selling the same second hand copies over and over again, with none of the money going back to the developer/publisher. A PC game can only be sold once.

It sucks, because it's caused PC games to be marginalised for short-term console profits. It's unsustainable in the long term, which is why it'll be a shock for retailers when the next generation of console games go entirely digital, or have large amounts of content locked to one-use codes.

Can't say it bothered me. The problem with the old COD games was that if you brought the game second hand then whoever you brought it from could essentially still play MP and use your code. However you could only use the code once at a time so if he's playing then you can't and vice versa, you didn't even need the disk for MP. So your putting a lot of trust into the person your buying from has actually uninstalled the game. :o

well tonight is interesting

my lowest ping is from netherlands and france at around 60 ping

the lowest UK server i have found is 100+ ping

totally unacceptable

reset the router and the pc nothing to be gained.
broken game is broken.

not impressed at all

Well I had the initial stuttering etc and it is allot better now. What I enjoy is the lack of cheaters and also the opportunity to watch replays just in case you thought someone was dodgy. Hopefully in time, patch by patch, everyone's games will improve.

Not to mention the bulk of people selling games like COD second hand are cheaters who've had the MP side of the game banned from that account/key.

Just played on TFU TDM server about 20mins ago. Was a hacker on called ShaneCarwin. In the process of making a movie of it, i take it use theater and fraps his point of View? never done it before.

Also, could i use this to get him VAC banned via Valve or Treyarch?

Videos won't be used to ban someone - the original demo files may be used to investigate previously unknown hacks but unfortunatly nothing is likely to come of it.

I was in this game. If you can't do the video, I can do it?
