Because they wanted to give people dedicated servers without losing too much of that ridiculous iron grip that the 'reason' behind the lobby system in MW2. Seriously i don't remember hearing about any sort of bull**** experience hacking in MW yet MW2 and BO were full of it and these were the games they tried to limit modding to 'protect the users experience'
“We plan to open up the game for modding sometime post-launch,” a Treyarch developer nicknamed pcdev told readers of the Call of Duty forums
In his appeal to the PC faithful, pcdev called support for such features “non-trivial.” The developer said Treyarch’s primary concern is shipping the game by its Nov. 9 release date. Afterward, the company will start making sure that PC gamers get the options they desire.
I really hate steam games now- shoddy VAC and makes it such a 'tight' game whereas COD4 seemed more independent and editable. T
Err Cs:S and hl2 would disagree on the steam games aren't modable.
That's the devs and publishers locking the games down not steam.
Suppose so. It's the idea of all the games being incorporated in a system that I seem to have an issue with. When I buy a game, I want to get it, put the disk in and then install it. I see no reason to buy a disk, then download Steam, then download the game even though I bought a disk? I just want to play the game, and it I want community features I'll just use xFire.
Exactly. Bethesda games like Morrowind and Oblivion could be modded but you couldn't use the Script Extender mods due to the encryption or something. Morrowind it wasn't much of a problem but all the major Oblivion mods used it. Then at some point the game was altered so they'd work on steam copies too.
then download the game even though I bought a disk?
The steam people actually made a steam compatible OBSE iirc.
Unless the server has a specific rule such as no chopper, then obviously they shouldn't kick for it.
