Since replacing 4870 with 6870, I can enable shadows, have every other setting full on and I have absolutely no micro-stutter, lag or any other graphical glitch whatsoever.

I wouldn't buy any new hardware just to play this though I hasten to add

new black ops patch is out this does fix loading and pauses.

had very little problems with it snce launch now runs 100 percent , floorless

Quick question regarding Steam.

The price for BlackOps on Steam is quite a bit more than it is on retail disk. Question I have is, since it isn't a valve game. If I buy the game on disk and register it with Steam. In the future if I buy a new PC or something. Will I be able to download the game from the Steam server? Or will I need to keep hold of my disk and retail code?

The code ties to your Steam account so it'll just download through Steam

Latest patch appears to have fixed 90% of my performance issues tho can't say for sure as I only gave it a whirl around combat training - but wasn't getting the same stutters/slow downs as before. Framerate is still only half what it should be but thats up from before where it was only 1/3rd what it should be. So far not needed to do a manual snd_restart at the start of each map either.

Just played 3 hours with no crash, touch wood its the patch and not a coincidence, normally i would have crashed about 6 times in 3 hours, touch wood.

Been playing MW2 S&D again and it's so much better regarding gameplay. It feels a lot slower however it's more fun in parties, more tactical etc. Not sure if I will reture to blackops.

Looks like the patch has fixed my sound stuttering when I encounter an enemy for the first time. Might actually be playable now. It only took 3 months.

It still aint perfect though. Switch to COD4 with same video settings, this should be the benchmark tbh :\ Should have used the same game engine ... erm hold on ...
