i did the same

i was surprised normally steam only maxes out my 20mb connection in the middle of the night but in the middle of the day was getting a constant 2.2mb

I think most of the people at the midnight openings will be console gamers and AFAIK there's no 'unlock' for consoles.

Its expensive because they know the fans will pay for it. If you want to sell it on then create a new steam account specifically for this game with no other games on it. Its against the steam T&Cs but it doesnt stop others doing it.

People in Australia and the Pacific region have had their retail copies unlocked already, apparently. :o
 
I'm interested in getting this tomorrow, as I really enjoy the SP experience of COD - I especially enjoyed the SP of MW1&2, but my computer = FAIL at the moment - it especially struggled on MW2. :(:o:p
 
Plans for tonight have been blown apart by this tbh lol.

Spent all of yesterday at a mates constructing the LAN garage. Its now fully kitted out, switch is in, cables are laid, just finishing off the file / net server later on.

Were picking up our reserved copies at midnight, but looks like the all nighter is now a no go :(

So were still going to go at midnight, get some kip then be fresh for a marathon sesh tomorrow. Most probably just have a noobtube fest on MW2 tonight or something with a few beers.
 
Rumours are that the retail version will allow you to play at midnight, however the digital steam version will not be till tomorrow some time (best rumours/guesstimates are between 9am and 3pm etc)

Australian retail copies are up and running already according to steam forums
