Coffee machines, Tassimo or Nespresso?

i thought grande was strong black coffee in a mug size

Probably is, the coffee chains refer to a 16oz shot as a "Grande", a 'Short' is 8oz, 'Tall' is 12oz and a "Venti" is 20oz..

I'll change my description to a 'big' Latte :D

I spookily got a 700ml Severin for Xmas, I would have been happier with the 500, but so far filling it 3/4 of the way to the max line seems to produce more than enough 'froth' and the temperature is nice and perfectly hot, so happy with that! It does take longer than the Aeroccino for the same amount of milk, but I like the stainless steel mug on the severin, no worries using metal spoons in it!

Came in looking for advice on a coffee machine...left thinking another thread derailed!!!!!!

Problem is, like most on the internet, people always know best.

Coffee is great but it has a learning curve. Start at the bottom and work up to a decent machine. Much like a PC I dont think many peoples first PC was a self-build machine.

Nothing wrong with Nespresso, tassimo etc if it gets you into a hobby.

Does anyone use ESE pods? Have been given a lovely delonghi espresso machine for Christmas and noticed it has a pod adapter. Looks like a sort of coffee tea bag. Might be easier to use daily rather than loading the machine manually.

The last thing you want to get right now is a tassimo. They have utterly ruined the only good range they have, the costa stuff. It's akin to new coke. Have a look at the reviews on the tassimo website for the costa lattes and on their FB page. They are getting utterly pounded.

The chocolates have been ruined, tbh they weren't great anyway and now the lattes have too. They has been some mention on the FB page that they moved production so cannot revert back to the old ones as it's a new supplier, but they seem to be back peddaling a little on that now they are seeing the amount of people writing in.
Just hit the first of the new style lattes...

:(

If they don't sort it, might be time to get something different.

I notice they've changed the Cadbury discs to powder now and you apparently don't get milk with them.

No surprises their Facebook page has gone dark for the past month.

I got a Bosch Tassimo machine for xmas. Really like the taste of the Costa Americano but feel the water could do with being a little hotter. Anyone else feel this way? Also, where is the best place to get the cheapest discs? Or are most places much of a muchness?

Costco are apparently pretty good, otherwise it's just a case of waiting for the supermarkets or the Tassimo website to have offers on.

Never had an issue with the temperature of the drinks though, always plenty hot enough.

Have owned the following so here is my take:-

Gaggia classic + Iberital MC2 Grinder
Easily best tasting but very fiddly. I have my machine in my office and it was too much hassle making brews when I had people in

Nespresso Citiz
Very happy with it. Current machine. Mainly use for espresso variants. Best tasting of the capsule machines I have had

Bosch Tassimo (cant remember model)
Very good. Thought the barcode reading system was a great idea. Tasted good

Dolce gusto
Also very good at the bargain end

Summary. If you want a capsule machine get a nespresso

Tassimo have brought back the Costa Vanilla Latte which was a limited edition last year. It doesn't seem to be on their website yet but I bought ten packs from Tesco last night (some are for my parents). :)
