Coilwhine!! :(

Thanks for that!

See its all down to luck and mostly the card, i understand the PSU could help in some cases as they can suffer from whine too and the user cant tell if the whine is from the PSU or card so replacing the whining part fixes the problem.

But yeah theres no chance im forking out £80 quid for a part i just do not need! If it was needed then id happily do it but more and more people are coming back with no problems on Corsair PSUs...

Yeah i notice everywhere is selling out now! The Evga is OOS and not due in until the 12th now... So i doubt ill get a replacement until the 16th earliest? Can you comment on this Gibbo? Im still waiting for my webnote to be responded to, cheers.

We have about 50 due tomorrow/Wednesday on EVGA card.

Combinations.

COM-BIN-ATIONS.

WOW MEGA FAIL OCUK!!!!

Sent my webnote on Friday and got a reply within a hour, sent a long reply back about the problem and what OCUK can do to help and stuff. Emailed back today since no reply still and was told they never got any of my emails...

Blame the holidays?

So much stress over a stupid card!!

EDIT:

Phone call hopefully sorted now, swapping for the G1, god forbid it has coilwhine!!!

You keep slating OcUK over your card with coil whine where is seems they have tried everything they can do to help. They have taken your card for RMA, offered a turnaround within a week, and given advice on what hardware components can be useful to try to minimise the noise produced by a GPU. I don't know of any other shop that offers any of this as most consider coil whine to be just a consequence of modern high powered graphics cards. I am genuinely curious what more you expected OcUK to do and what would constitute good service in your book?

What is your RMA number? When it gets here I shall see if I can get it turned around a bit quicker for you.

According to the Oxford dictionary, there are 4 possible meanings of the word, whine. I'm confused as to which of these is the subject of this thread.

http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/whine

Definition of whine in English:
NOUN

1 A long, high-pitched complaining cry:
the dog gave a small whine

1.1 A long, high-pitched unpleasant sound:
the whine of the engine

1.2 A complaining tone of voice:
there was a hint of a whine in Anna’s voice

1.3 A feeble or petulant complaint:
a constant whine about the quality of public services

I have an MSI 970 and it has coil whine above 150fps and it's pretty loud. I didn't actually notice it until I played CSGO, where it's obviously very easy to achieve high fps. This is using an EVGA Supernova G2 850w PSU. I also actually tried my brother's PSU, which is identical to mine but this made absolutely no difference.

I'm wondering whether a lot of people who claim to have a 'coil-whine free' card are actually playing games that are displaying lower fps (under 150 fps) and therefore it's not rearing it's ugly head? Just a thought, but it is certainly the case for me.

My Evga has coilwhine with anything above 30 fps! CSGO is a no go lol 150 fps is a squealing pig!!

1.1 is probably the most accurate description for the subject of this topic.

My Galax 970 Black Ed has very minimal coil whine running on a Z97 impact, i7 4790K in my SG05 with the 450W bronze PSU, and that is only when overclocked to 1.6Ghz.

When its run at stock 1.418Ghz i cant hear any, or it has subsided.

I'm ready to bet a tenner that we're going to see Nines11's 2.0 rage when he's getting the new G1 card with coil whine.

I was not gonna say anything but from reading the forums the G1 does seem quite an offender, the card I tested had it very slightly but only when overclocked to near 1600MHz core. At stock it was fine!
