Command & Conquer 3 Demo, Next Week!

Ion cannon is win

Not as lose in the previous games

This thing actually destroys

Diehard CnC fan and enjoyed the demo very much. :)

Roll on March, oh how I have missed my dosage of cheesy FMV's and military chics.

Sup Com has ruined this game for me, a game I've looked forward to for years.

It won't let me zoom out, at all. 1600x1200 and I can fit about 4 buildings on the screen. :(

Everything else seems ace tho, shame another RTS has just come along and shown what RTS' can do.

sup com made this game better for me, I hated the whole sup com and spent half my time lookin at what looked like a 2d game :p

This is a must have purchase

Having played this, I think i've found my game of the year!

It's "old school" C&C - pick up and play, build a base, cause destruction.

The mammoths are flippin' imba, but that's half the fun.

Am I right in thinking there's no Ion Cannon in skirmish? :(

There is indeed an ion cannon in skirmish, have to build the tech centre and i think the space centre (or wtf ever its called) then you get the option to build the ion cannon.

Has any one experienced textures not loading fully on some of the buildings you can construct?

I thought that myself until i realised that i didnt have enough power and they were dark becasue of that, so built a few more power silos and he presto they lit up again.

to sum it up ' disappointed ' , its basically the same c&c game with new gfx and cut scene's so if your a c&c nut then its probably gonna float yer boat. i was expecting them to bring something new to the franchise instead of the same formula which got boring for me with generals . im sure a lot of peeps will enjoy this simply for what it is, but im gonna pass on this as CoH still is the benchmark in RTS

Looking forward to installing and playing this but only after work

Probably take me ages to get used to it since i've been playing supcom for quite some time now.

I can understand that, i'm one of those c&c nuts you're referring too. :D

For me CNC isn't about pushing boundaries or being the most innovative; but to provide a simply design and functionality to allow for some quick, addicitve skirmish fun.

Add a decent storyline, some cheesy (albeit cool) FMV's and a few hot chics and you've got everything i'd want in a game.

oh god oh god oh god
it is stuning
absolutely stunning. Breathtaking graphics that (IMO) eclispe those of Supreme Commander (though not in scale).

Fast, fluid, and VERY "Command and Conquerey"
yes the cut scenes are cheesy as hell, but who cares? I expected nothing less, but the gameplay is just so wonderful. I was not hugely impressed by the supreme Commander demo, and so far this is kicking the living daylights out of it, mercilessly. Getting it onto the floor and pummelling it some more... :)

so far: I do like it, but a few things are a bit iffy. NOD's microwave style tanks, I don't know their real name, but they seem to out range all of my base defences and destroy them very quickly,

and also their stealth units (crazy ivan like ones) keep appearing in my base and blowing up my refinery.

The rebuilding turrents are a little annoying too, have to destroy the central node thing.
All three of those points strike me as features of a good RTS game! :)

gonna download this now at work. ill see what its like when i get home, i hope my system can run it on at least half decent settings but from what ive seen it runs well on most systems. ........ 1 gig download? we only have a 1mb line here! :(

Runs on MAX settings fine on my rig (in sig) at 1680 x1050 :)

Me happy!

However, does anyone find it at quite a distinct fast pace in comparison to previous C&C games?

so i'm the only one not impressed by the gfx of it?

Your not the only one, I'd say CoH and SupCom are better. Its like they've taken the generals engine and added in heat haze n stuff, and thats pretty much it. Not too keen on this in gameplay terms, but it might grow on me (only played it once). Its annoying that I can't zoom out! damn you SupCom! :P

If you think that generals was the "C&C formula" you really don't deserve to be posting in this thread. Also there is proof that bringing something new to the genre isn;t necessarily good, look at supcom.

its just another typical ea game with old technology in a new box under a brand that they know people follow. Having siad that, ill still be buying it

SupCom is good though. The only really new thing it brings are dual screen and MAHOOOSIVE zoom out, how can you say those are NOT good things? Its not even subjective. If those things aren't good for RTS', I'll eat my hat.
