You can play RA1 on LAN. Although the site has dodgy downloads on it too so I can't link to it. I play a fair amount of RA1 LAN when people are fed up of losing 4v1 StarCraft against me :p
 
It's the worst CASH-IN ever.

The games are riddled with bugs, incompatible with XP, and (as said in the other thread) generally run slower than Rick Waller uphill.

The 2 origionals have flickering screens and the movies have thick lines through them. Yuri's Revenege doesn't work, and RA2 is just slow.

That sounds like a problem with your system, because RA2+YR (originals, not this DVD pack thing), works fine here.
 
No, apparently there's all sorts of problems with the new First Gen pack. Seems they've royally messed up on what should surely have been a pretty bloody easy task (patch up the games, copy them all onto one CD, give them a nice loader, done).

Got to wonder though. Rather than just going "LOL EA SUX", why on Earth are the guys that program C&C games for them apparently so damn awful? There are plenty of other EA departments that don't seem to have nearly as many bugs as ever EA C&C has had. Generals and Zero Hour both needed serious patching to get working properly, and it seems so will this too.
 
OH BRILLIANT NOW IT DOESN'T EVEN RECOGNISE THE CD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yuri's Revenge doesn't load at all now!

I am absolutely furious!

After reading some comments in that thread, I hope EA get sued.

I'm either returning it to the retailer or selling it on eBay. TRASH!
 
Well I've written a returns-request to a retailer. I hope they get the message...

Dear Sir/Madam

I’m surprised this joke wasn’t released on April fool’s day. Many unhappy consumers, including myself, are outraged and disgusted over EA's appalling incompetence. Many are considering class action lawsuits for fraudulent advertising.

The origional games featured in this ‘bundle of miseries’ are riddled with bugs, and generally run slower than Rick Waller uphill! Furthermore, they ARE NOT compatible with Windows XP despite being advertised as "compatible with modern operating systems." A legion of cretins could have done a better job in my honest opinion. All they had to do was put all the patched “up-to-date” versions of each game on one CD, that’s it! But the high-wage blockheads at EA couldn’t even do that. I am wholeheartedly disgusted!

I hope you understand why I am so upset over this purchase!

Try running the setup for the originals and setting the resoloution to 640*480.
 
anyone know how to get the original command and conquer game to fit nicely onto my 17"tft. i think its running at some super low resolution and that has meant that half the sidebar and bottom of the screen isnt being showed. the auto button isnt doing anything!

No, I was just pointing that out to them. I bought the game thinking it would work on my system, it didn't.
 
I've installed the whole pack (9gb :eek: ) and played C&C1, RA2 and Renegade (forgot just bad those gfx were :p) and all seems OK so far.
 
I'm holding off buying it now, a bit worried it won't work.

Not good, but typical EA. Take a game, mess it around, **** it up, welcome to Electronic Arts.

640*480 and set your graphics card to scale it up rather than the monitor.
