Commuting to Work

Work?

4km ( 3 ish miles), car, 7-30 minutes depending on traffic.
Used to cycle before having a car, that way it took 12-20 minutes depending how fast I cycled and traffic lights.
On my mums moped it took anywhere between 10 and 15 mins depending on traffic lights.

Uni:
14 kilometers, 8 and a half miles.

18-60 minutes by car depending on traffic ( about 35 minutes usually when in the afternoon during medium traffic) ( when I don't have to stay at uni for longer than 4 hours, as it's 1.50€ per hour parking there).
45 ish minutes by bus and subway/fast light rail combined ( when I have to pay for parking for longer than 4 hours or during early morning hours when you really don't want to be driving in the *****y traffic, I hate public transport though, but for me it's free).
30 ish minutes by car and subway combined ( drive to the station rather than taking the bus). ( barely ever do this, as it means leaving the car at a station for hours and it still isn't free ( petrol) unlike the bus+subway option).

11.6 miles, on a clean road takes about 20 minutes, on the average morning journey it takes about half an hour or so

other job is 1.6 miles away, and takes about 30 mins to walk, but strangely enough takes about 20 minutes to drive in the mornings >.<
So I walk for the exercise

60 odd miles, not sure as I get the train.

Cost me £44 ish a week for a pass, takes 2 hours and 5 mins door to door. I sleep most of the time during it.

@36 miles there and back.

I cycle most days/nights. Takes about 1 hour give or take a few minutes.

Nothing beats cycling in to work, crisp mornings with the sun coming up as you head in. Brilliant.

Has to be really bad weather for me to resort to the car. If I dont cycle I take the Mille in the summer which results in me arriving at work before I have even left home sometimes. :p

15 miles give or take, 35 minutes on the train and a little walk at each end. Driving, on the rare occasion I need to, takes about 70 minutes or so at rush hour. It's alright in the end, will likely move a bit further out of London next year.

I go 15 miles in 2 busses and a 10 minute walk.

Takes about an 1:10 on the way there and about 1:30 on the way home as I have to wait until 18:20 for the second bus at Wycombe bus station.

Still, you can't argue with £51 / month for unlimited travel on the busses from one side of the county to the other. I couldn't run a car for anywhere near as little as that!

I'm an auditor so it varies from day to day. For the past two weeks I have been travelling 16 miles, but it has been taking me around 1hr15mins due to having to travel over barton bridge on the M60 - manchester.

For those than don't know it, its a massive hump backed bridge basically that people drive up ultra slow (45mph) and fly down the other side (120mph+), usually resulting in mass crashing and ultimately tailbacks as far as the eye can see.

10min drive to the station, 2:10 on the train and then 5 min walk at the other end,

then the reverse at the end of the day :-( god i hate my life

9 miles to Birchwood park along the M60 and M62. Time it takes depends on when I leave for work, before rush hour it takes 20 mins, after it can easily take 40 mins!

I walk, it's only 9 minutes from my bed to my desk :D

Although for the first 2 months of working at my current place I commuted 25 miles, using public transport, and including a 4 mile walk. Took about 2.5 hours to get to work, nightmare!

Takes 4 minutes to get to my desk from where I live, and to say it's the HQ of the second biggest company of the industry in the WORLD :-D
