Com'on OCUK

Keep it as it is, i post here to help people, free delivery is a nice way of rewarding people who do help, as well as the fact that the customer service and next day delivery is spot on.

Maybe some things could be cheaper elsewhere, id still pay that little bit extra for the piece of mind and the delivery service OCuk offer.

Yup. The prices may not be the best ever, but then I'd rather deal with OcUK than some Mickey Mouse outfit. In general, they have competitive prices anyway, good service, and very active forums. It wouldn't hurt to reward good forum members with coupons and free-delivery on large purchase (but maybe you do that already?).

An automated way would be a form of a rating system on the forums, but that is also opened to abuse. I know it can work quite well though.

The same way I prefer to buy better quality hardware than the absolute cheapest in the category. So far it served me well (Logitech peripherals, Dell screen, no complains).

PS : Not a fanboy really, just stating from personal experience.

you were not enquiring at all, you were pretty much stomping your feet saying 'either you give me free shipping OCUK or im going somewhere else'. sorry if it offended you, but i cannot see the purpose of OCUK getting people to make accounts they will never use for the sake of saving a few quid postage. it would just ruin the forums for everyone that actually wants to use it.

i'm afraid you are wrong again... go back and re-read, i already explained i was out to look for the best possible deal as always. I was out to ask for help from OCUK to make it easy for me to buy it all from here by offering a similar deal on postage that has been offered by a competitor. No matter what, who, when... I will always look to buy the cheapest, but having said that my point is OCUK prices are good, a lot of the time, especially deal time they are better than elsewhere baring postage costs. I recognise that if postage was free it would be probably the best place to buy it all from. Hence the whole reason for my post. Thank you.

i understand that, i really do, but IF OCUK made the exception for you, because you said you would buy elsewhere, then surely it would be unfair for them not to just give free P&P to everyone. cant be having 1 rule for 1 and a different for everyone else. maybe if you had messaged or phoned OCUK direct rather than an open thread it would have been possible, but in my opinion, if they back down now and give you free P&P before you reach the desired post count, it opens up abuse from everyone that didnt get this treatment.
i did not mean it as a personal attack on you, my point was, if someone will kick up a fuss to get their own way on this, then chances are they will keep going until they feel they have made their desired savings. which in an open thread, is pretty cheeky.

I think tbh guys it a case of you don't ask you don't get.

We do offer free shipping on certain orders or for certains memebers. Generally if they ask myself or one of the other members of staff. We don't have to do this but we do to reward customers.

I understand what Buzzin_nice is saying completely but he does understand that we can't allow every tom, dick and harry have free shipping as this would just get exploited.

However, if Buzzin_nice came to me with a £1000 order and asked for free shipping, of course I would give it him!

The easiest way to get any special deal or discount is to speak to one of the members of staff directly. I have my email and msn on my forum profile so their is no reason not to ask.

But I have to make it clear. Free shipping does not get given out to people just because they moan about it on a forum, as moaning gets people no where. (especially with me!)

Most of the time I find OcUK to be the cheapest, the free postage was just some work I had to do in order to get it, it's only fair.

I mean the other competitor does have good prices but their website is frustrating and annoying.

i accept and appreciate what you are saying, i didnt come here to offend anyone either so apols there if i've offended anyone. I wasnt asking on an individual level to get free delivery. more along the lines i've noticed that OCUK along with another company have been competing in a lot of things this week and I am fully aware of this now more than ever as i've been monitoring prices etc like a hawk for my new build. i was suprised to see the offer of free delivery from competitor as well as the cheaper oem sany bridges and also hitachi 3tb drive last time i checked - this is how competive they are both being at this time. knowing OCUK are already bound to be aware of this i wanted to enquire about similar things that may be in the pipeline here. Lets face its, when OCUK do deals recently, they are class deals but postage can be a ball ache when comparing against such competitors and i'm sure i'd have been tempted before now if it was different.

I hope you can see my point.

like said, if you ask in a nice polite manor either via phone or direct on here to staff, then you are more likley to get your desired outcome. posting a thread will just get peoples backs up, as it would be unfair for OCUK to publicly come onto this thread and say 'yeah go on then, we will give it to you' and not expect a backlash of unhappy customers that didnt get free shipping, i feel for people in ireland, who from what i understand cannot get free shipping no matter how many posts they make.
if we were going down that road, i can get 90% of stuff OCUK sell for a fair bit cheaper through work (i get everything at cost price) but i would never come on here and ask OCUK to match it, thats just not right.

well thats is great to know thanks, i'll build a list of what i need and talk directly with you or another member of staff, i wish i'd done this earlier and i could have included already purchased kit.

with regards to moaning, i dont feel i am moaning, sorry if i am... i just felt i was asking, and discussing, agreeing and disagreeing which is what a forum is meant to be about isnt it?

regards,

bnice

But you HAVE to spend £20 at least for free P&P, so it would have been useless for the £18,50 order i just did... :D

Interesting arguments being put forward here. I think there is a really good idea, both business wise and community wise, behind the idea that loyal members should get free shipping. After all, a brief glance at the possible meanings of 'loyal' shows that that is the kind of customer that OcUK should value dearly.

That being said, however, I don't think that spammers merit the honour of being 'loyal'. If only there was a system in place to evaluate the content of posts, things would certainly be very different :)

Also, I have decided to be more active and try to reach the goal of 100 posts since I might possibly order parts of my new system from OcUK. I wouldn't consider myself a spammer but sometimes I do feel akin to something like a gratuitous poster ;)

i think the community OCUK has is very good, and you very rarely hear a bad word here, even when someone makes a very basic or stupid mistake, no one ever abuses the poster, everything is done to make the OP resolve their issue. likewise, i dont think i see a lot of spamming on here either, so either the OCUK mods are very good on clamping down on this or i read the wrong threads :p

True, forum abuse tends to be aimed at people who appear to tell porkies; usually related to RMA issues and LGA pins if I remember correctly

I belive the system should stay roughly how it is, Free delivery for high post users.
Where the system could improve is that if you spend say£45 - £50 you get free delivery, it does not matter if you are a forum member or not.
I have recently not used OcUk to buy several things due to the postage charges ( would have been around £7 for courier delivery for a case), others were free delivery if you spent the £45.
The other problem could be people are creating posts just to get the scores up.

I agree that OcUk's service is the best around, always reply to emails, technical queries etc, I know im a new poster myself, but I have been using OcUk for several years now,to buy components and a full system. My main build bundle i will buy in april when the updated Intel boards come out , I will get it from OcUk what ever the postage charge is and if they are more expensive/cheaper than the competitors.

Its just in these times, to some the extra cash saved means you can buy other parts.

this is a valid point, maybe certain amounts spent should enable the free shipping, but, and i dont want to be picky, but how many times would you purchase an item under £50? which then takes away the loyalty purpose for forum members.

No, you don't. I've made an order that was less than £20 that had free P&P. There are some deals that don't have free P&P though.

in my opinion, free delivery should depend on the amount of money spent with overclockers.
i could spend all day posting stuff on forum, sell loads of stuff on mm and buy my new mouse from ******* but still get free delivery unless im wrong.
or i can spend £10k over the last few years, never sell old gear on mm, always loyal to ok but never spend hours posting on the forums and still have to pay delivery.....
go figure

this is true, there should be a minimum order amount to qualify.

It shouldn't take long to get to 250 posts. And the delivery service is outstanding. Pretty certain other companies offering free delivery would only be standard and not next day.

I come here regularly, read - get decent info. But rarely post, as I'm a total nab. I joined in 2006 (actually more like 2003 but forgot my login details!)

However that doesn't mean I should get a freebie.

Leave it as it is. ;)
