Confirmed: Windows Blue Will Be Free, to Be Called 8.1

That won't download beta drivers as far as I'm aware as beta ones won't be Microsoft certified.

"You can install the new GeForce driver version 326.01 for Windows 8.1 from Windows Update after you install the Release Preview."

That's from the link you posted and as far as I can see Windows Update is the only place you can get the beta drivers from.

Fair enough, I though updates had to be windows certified, which generally doesn't happen for betas.

Links for downloads are at the bottom of the link I posted, so not the only place.

Windows update didn't install for me, it doesn't even pick up the nividia chip, just the intel hd3000, even a force update search didnt find anything to download.

Oh yeah missed that, gonna try reinstalling the drivers/poss updating if I don't have the latest.

How is updating to the final release going to work?

The same procedure will be followed when the final RTM version of Windows 8.1 is available for download later this year. All data and account info will remain in the tranfer. However, Microsoft says that people who download and use the preview version of Windows 8.1 will have to reinstall all of their Windows 8 and desktop apps when they install the final RTM x86 version of Windows 8.1; Windows RT users will also have to reinstall all their Modern-Windows Store apps for their own Windows 8.1 upgrade.

Using it now.

Considering Windows 8 scared & confused me, this is a lot better. Like the start button, but still three clicks to shut down & closing the 'metro' stuff is still a pain in the butt.

I honestly don't know why people complain regarding the lack of the start menu. Who uses the start menu>program>accessories etc? You pin all your common stuff anyway & use the search for less used programs.

This is a lot better & the smaller tile option makes things more consistent with the Windows Phone.

Decided to give this a whirl on my Media Center and im liking it so far, much easier to use than windows 7 without a keyboard and mouse connected.

Still can never see myself installing it on my PC

Definitely more of a touchscreen OS than a keyboard and mouse OS

3 clicks to shutdown?

I just press the power button on front of case, no clicks whatsoever.

5 seconds or so later it's off :)

Oh man, how did I not know this.

From start hit the charms bar > settings > tiles > show more tiles to ON

This improves start screen massively and was on windows8 anyway apparently.
It changes it from three rows to 4.

Show more tiles set to ON

Now I have to rearrange everything.

charms bar > settings > tiles > show more tiles to ON doesn't seem to be there on 8.1
