Just finished reinstalling 8.1 RTM on mine - using UEFI mode and thankfully no build number messages

I could swear this is faster at booting up than my previous 8.0 setup - I hardly get to see the ROG loading logo now!

So far so good - everything including drivers and all apps installed fine. Activated (after using my own key) and all tickety-boo!

EDIT: Spoke too soon! - Is it me or is there no more Windows Experience Index score now!?

I think the motherboard my main pc supports UEFI so does that mean I should not get build number issue?

Pretty sure your gfx card needs to support it to use secure boot too mate

been running 8.1 for 2 weeks now and its pretty fast.

defiantly like being able to disable metro. and set the start button to just show a list of programs

The graphics card really needs to support UEFI GOP.

that's for ultra fast boot. not secure boot

I have secure boot enabled with a non UEFI GOP graphic card

I could not get secure boot running with my 680. Just kept telling me the GPU bios does not support secure boot ?

is ultra fast boot enabled?

when I try enabling ultra fast boot it says UEFI GOP bios needed

I tried it with and without and my bios gave the message saying my GPU bios was not UEFI and default settings will be applied.

Tbh using the MSI fast boot option is just as quick without the hassle.

That's strange I had the option to keep files and installed apps when I did mine ?

lol downloaded the 64bit iso tryed vairous things to get it to upgrade but nope if i get bored tomorrow night might just do it

Is the one I used. I ran the ISO from directly in windows 8 to do the upgrade and it upgraded no problem with nothing lost. I did then burn the ISO to usb as I had issues with UEFI having a bit of a fit and did a fresh install.

I went from windows 7 to 8.1 and only got the options to wipe everything or keep personnel files. Had to reinstall all programs.
