I went from windows 7 to 8.1 and only got the options to wipe everything or keep personnel files. Had to reinstall all programs.

That seems to be correct for a 7 > 8.1 upgrade.

I cant use my OVS/SA/Select Keys, none of them work.

How can I get the serial from my Surface Pro's preinstalled Win8..?

Well I have installed again on a test laptop and made sure UEFI and secure boot is enabled and I still get the build number displayed down bottom right......

Unlikely. This is a Service Pack, not a new OS.

Well I manged to remove watermark with a tool called - My WCP Watermark Editor

Anyway before I install this on my main PC is everyone this is the final version and will keep being support by MS? And also is everyone sure the below works to change key to my Win 8 pro upgrade key? -

slmgr.vbs -ipk xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx then hit enter key

xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx being your Win8 upgrade key.

Well I tested the Key editing thing on a test pc by just reinserting the same temp key and it seems to work....

i'll be trying the upgrade path tonight with the iso MOOGLEYS posted hopefully everything will go according to plan, if not will wait till the 1 off ms store in October

Yes works fine. I just did my Wife's Pc and used the option to keep all apps and settings and everything is exactly the same nothing lost just upgraded to 8.1.

Just goint to try it again using the key than came with the Surface Pro...

just the download from the store

but if u know a friend who bought win 8.1 full version you could use that with your key. or just keep this win 8.1 rtm iso

u have to use that key above to install it then change the key to your own one to activate

Woooooo all installed and activated....water mark gone after activation!! All great....

Had to reinstall My Marvell SAT drivers to get RAID working but all good....

Another Win8.1 user

,Yes its fast with a clean install.

I'm still very happy with Avast 2014 beta3,its better then defender IMHO.
