Confirmed: Windows Blue Will Be Free, to Be Called 8.1

I'm loving 8.1 so far. It seems to have fixed my Xonar Audio Center, and I've just noticed it has freed up nearly 20GB on my C drive before even getting rid of the Window.Old folder!

Anyone added free W8 Media Center Pack offer (from last year), via add feature using your key - doesn't work here.

Has it worked for anyone here?

Thanks

I've updated my W8 Pro with Media Center to 8.1 Pro with Media Center.

I just want to find an ISO for it so I can do a fresh install as I'd rather not have to install 8, then update again to 8.1.

I know some ISO's are available on TechNet and to MSDN subscribers but are they really the only places for now? (Legitimate places I mean)

While it worked fine on one computer, it's failing every time with a 0x80070083 error on another.

The joys of Microsoft and their delightful updates. Any other time they'd offer an offline installer (one which wouldn't require a complete wipe, as the ISO does), but oh no, they don't need it with the Store! Bloody thing.

Thankfully it's a fairly pointless upgrade, other than the boot to desktop feature, which, if I'm honest, isn't going to change my life (don't get me wrong, I'm not a Windows 8 hater - I'm quite happy using it and without any Start Menu addons - I'm actually frustrated they've added the button back).

I'm a little disappointed about how long it takes to upgrade. Even on a rapid system with an SSD it takes forever. I've done three today and it's definitely a chore.

Still, it's been seamless so far so can't complain too much. Better late than borked.

I've upgraded via store, but I've found a silly thing, the "remove everything and reinstall windows" feature won't work without a win 8.1 disk...

lucky I burnt win 8.1 rtm on a dvd.

i am the same ,its not updating

I've got a nseaky feeling my Steelseries Sensei might have caused it as I ended up powering it down and back on a few times and nothing. Just the whirly thing going round but the lights on the mouse popped on for a second then went off and then nothing. I took it out and stuck in an old MS mouse, rebooted and it put me back to 8. I'm trying it once more with the MS mouse and if it does not work, I will do a clean reinstall of 8, then 8.1, then do drivers.

First problem I have...can't sync to my email account all of a sudden...apparently the password is incorrect, which it isn't!

Make sure you are not using the sceptic keyboard layout.

I've got a Samsung Series 7 all-in-one PC (computer built inside a 27" touchscreen) with the normal x86-64 version of Windows 8. I do use the desktop a lot as well as the touchscreen. Will I benefit from 8.1? Will it be a complete install that requires data backup or is it an incremental install like a service pack? The start button (or lack of) doesn't bother me because I know that WIN gives you the metro interface and WIN+D gives you the desktop interface.
