Confirmed: Windows Blue Will Be Free, to Be Called 8.1

Well my Rt and PC have installed and updated 100% no probs, just the PC download was very slow, though not completely surprised.

And that's on a self built machine.

Also, on both, I have just been saved a large chuck of memory!..where did that come from!?

Stock HP drivers doesn't work.
Official 13.4 mobility drivers doesn't work.
Beta 10.4 drivers doesn't work.
Stock Win 8.1 are the only stable ones but only uses the Intel IGP.

Switchable graphics is dead on my laptop, everything I try I can't get the damn laptop to use the 7670M. CCC refuses to load in all instances as well saying it can't detect the GPU. Googling around it seems to be a common problem between AMD's switchable graphics and Win 8.1. I'll leave it for now and wait for either AMD or HP to release something compatible. At least gaming on the HD 4000 is not too bad...

Best bet is to try the leshcat drivers. I have switchable graphics as well and this is the one thing im dreading with 8.1

In the changelog it's been quoted that execution on 8.1 has been prevented.

But guess what? I fixed the damn thing! First I decided to try AMD's 13.9 desktop drivers, but running that it doesn't have the drivers for it. Now here's the stupid thing... manually selecting the GPU brings me the link to the auto detector which tries to grab 13.4. On the very same page of selecting your GPU, on the bottom right hand side is a link to the correct mobility 13.9 Win 8.1 compatible drivers: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/mobile?os=Windows+7+-+64

Why the hell did the auto detector say 13.4 was the latest for me, when 13.9 is working just fine? Oh well, problem finally solved, now I'm getting much smoother performance all around. I never knew running a game on one monitor could cause a browser on the other to become sluggish on the Intel IGP...

Another lucky thing is that all my power profiles has been kept from the 8 install as well even after my mass install/uninstall/reinstalling with the GPU drivers.

Well, now to recreate all my Oblytile stuff...

EDIT: I had StartIsBack with 8, which stayed installed on 8.1 but did not properly start. Installing StartIsBack+ on top fixed it and carried my licence over. Start button looks nice but with the sort of work I do I feel more productive with the start menu compared to the start screen.

Loving it to bits. I liked Win 8 - despite its flaws - and 8.1 fixes all my pet hates. I would even consider using it for a proper "work" OS now :)

Im uninstalling it and putting win8 back on. 8.1 is broke. It has nothing to do with my Gugabyte board or any ASRock or ASUS or MSI products others have the same issue with. The fact the issue is so widely seen tells me that once again Microsoft cant do anything right. Morons. Simple.
Hopefully they will see this and have a look into it... Can but only hope.

+1 MORONS

First big problem for me, I cannot access my work RD Web Access. Browser not supported. It has to be through Internet Explorer not Chrome because of ActiveX and all I get is a message saying Browser not Supported. Try and do an Internet Explorer update and I have the latest browser. Seriously not impressed

Widely seen? I think you are the only person in this thread with the problem after installing GA rollup 1.

So far there are literally thousands of reports of it. The fact every step and hack has been made by myself to fool the OS into working and it still shows the watermark is a problem. How do you think it will affect builds at OcUK? We can't ship anything that has that. We won't know what combinations will and won't do it. We system prep anything we build so any work done to the OS to remove it would be over written as soon as the customer gets the system anyway.

That's why it's a problem and that's why I'm not amused.

I've upgraded via store, but I've found a silly thing, the "remove everything and reinstall windows" feature won't work without a win 8.1 disk...

lucky I burnt win 8.1 rtm on a dvd.

Just tried to do this myself and it failed as well without the 8.1 install media. Another ridiculous situation, I've updated to 8.1 and want to do a system reset but cannot do it, MS won't provide the media it seems unless you buy a full 8.1 license today or have access to MSDN etc.

Will unless there is a fix for RD Web Access then I will have to go back to Win 8, not frikkin amused one bit

u could just download the leaked win8.1 rtm.iso. it only has to vilify it, it doesn't take any files from it.

Updated within 5 mins last night, though I wish after it's downloaded you could install it when you wanted not it popping up and saying in 15min your PC will restart to install.

Nothing broke the only thing I had to do was turn SLI back on.
