That's what I've been hearing in many places...
That's why I'm seeking out the Badaxe and Asus mobos, see which is better etc etc...
 
I have just got some money of my life insurance policy.. :D So am thinking of getting one of these conroe setups, but I have a few small problems with my setup at the mo...

Athlon 64 x2 3800+
Asrock daul sata 2 motherboard
Geforce 6800 GT (AGP)
G.Skill 2GB DDR ZX PC3200 (2x1GB) CAS2 Dual Channel Kit

Now would I be able to use that ram I have with a conroe? or does it have to be ddr2 or something?

I know I would need a new motherboard and graphics card. Would a say.. Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Conroe" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) or a Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB)...

Be that much better than my current x2 3800+ a64 setup?

Any help welcome here. ;)
 
Was I seeing things somewhere in this thread, or was there talk of getting 2GB (2x1GB) G.Skill DDR2 800Mhz RAM modules for only £130? If so, can't wait! Or am I making things up, or just being cheeky? :)

Ok I have worked out I will have a budget of £500.

I will be wanting - Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB)

so thats £250.

I will also buy a new motherboard so maybe £100?

I will also buy some DDR2 ram, so can somone reccomend me? is the G.Skill 2GB DDR2 LA PC2-5300 (2x1GB) CAS4 Dual Channel Kit (F2-5400PHU2-2GBLA) (MY-012-GS) any good for this setup?

If so thats.. £467.

Im gonna also flog my - Dual core x2 3800+ and asrock dual sata2 motherboard / geforce 6800 gt (AGP)/ gskill 2 gig ddr 3200... this will raise me enough money to purchase a nice new powerfull pci express graphics card.

Any opinions on my cunning plan? :D

Sounds good, and the RAM will be fine, I've got the same stuff waiting here.

EDIT: If you are planning on heavy overclocking, you might want to get something a little faster, such as the 6400 stuff.
