Hello mate and thanks for the help. I've never been a major overclocker, so i would only be looking at getting about 200 or even 400 more mhz, that would do me fine. :p
 
I was wondering if the people getting hold of the chips early are getting OEM or retail versions? Do you get the HSF with it?? Just wondering how good the retail setup is as this chip really doesnt seem heat limited for stability, wondering whether its worth adding a new cooler for it. What are good coolers for this socket? (havent built an intel rig for 4/5 years :eek: )

So is the conroe gonna be running cool temps? I hear it is and this is why it overclocks so well. :confused:
 
Yeah I think they are very cool running, can't remember exact temps but they were quite low at idle and at load without any clocking being done to them. Iirc it was about 30 idle and 40 under full load but not sure about what HSF was being used.

Cheep, Fast and Cool, this is all getting to tempting, looking forward to see what you lads think of them in real world apps, hope it's not as good as is looking, as my wallet will be getting a hammering again!
 
IIRC they run cooler than that, as my opty 3700 that's at 1.375v and 2.7ghz is idle at 29c lol! i've seen screenie's of idle at 18c and loading around 30c with a tuniq!

The stock coolers are not much cop I would have thought.Not if you will be overclocking even if they run cool.

The lower the temps the higher the clock so my zalman 9500 will be going on it with a smidgen of as 5 lol :D

Building my E6600 tonight.
Heres my new spec if anyone is interested.


Conroe E6600
Zalman 9500
2 GB G skill HZ 6400
Intel Bad Axe mobo.

will post some screenies when its up and running,Can't wait :D

Mine arrived this morning.

How do I check the revision number? I can't see it on the board but I can see a white sticker with some writing ending in D27094-304.
