Something interesting I've noticed is that, at one of the competitors, when I added the E6600 to my basket and clicked "Buy Now"; A range of delivery options came up... think you'll find them interesting:

Thursday 20 July 2006 (Economy Service) £3.99 £4.69
Friday 14 July 2006 (Next Working Day Service) £4.99 £5.86
Friday 14 July 2006 (Pre-12 Next Working Day Service) £8.98 £10.55
Saturday 15 July 2006 (Saturday Service) £15.99 £18.79

No, im not on about the pricing :p. Notice that the "next working day service" shows July 14th . Make of that what you will :p

There just aint no way those conroes will be available on the 14th lol :D
No? The release has been brought forward to that day, the stocks are being distributed as we speak. The logistics might not mean many people get them actually on the 14th but certainly the following week should be fine.

Link pls? "The release has been brought forward to that day"

There are reports of X6800's arriving into stock in the US already... I take all this with a big pinch of salt.... but cant help refreshing the Ocuk Core 2 Duo page every hour just in case :)

EDIT: This is interesting though... a guy apparently phoned the US store and was told that they had stock, but had been told by Intel not to dispatch untill the release date (wonder if that means the 14th or the 24th or the 27th or the ????? lol).
Have to say, sceptical as i am, things do look promising for a very efficient launch.

lol email them then ...that web note thingy if you want to find out

Yeah, send them a webnote and tell us what was said. I would do it myself - but my email address is probably blacklisted I've sent so many questions in. :p

Does DDR1 work with Conroe in the Asrock Twin board? What is the performance like compared to DDR2 if it does?

It'll work but hamper performance. I used 250mhz ram with a pentium 4 and it was much slower then ddr2 even when running at the same speed, not quite sure why. A difference in superpi 1m of about 15 seconds it was

Dont take it as proven just be aware

I thought DDR and DDR2 where completely incompatable ( ie different slot indentation etc)?

the asrock supports both DDR & DDR2 (has 2 ddr2 slots and 2 ddr slots), i will give it a whirl later with the geil value i have. I assume it will run at a fixed devider to maintain 200mhz (3200) for the memory.

I have just noticed other retailers have now started taking pre-orders for Core 2 Duo and are considerably cheaper than OCUK

For example the E6600 is a massive £40 cheaper and the E6800 £60 cheaper

Are OCUK gonna be lowering their prices anytime soon? or I'll be forced to buy elsewhere..

But overclockers uk are getting the entire of Europes allocation so it doesnt matter

Thats not true, i know of other online retailers (in UK, Belgium/Netherlands/Germany) who will also have quantities of stock on release day
