Conroe now available from OcUK!

Well with the DFi and Asus mobos and a E6600 or less, if your looking to overclock the FSB >400 people are finding they have to run the mem 4:3 to boot, so you could proberbly save yourself some money and get pc5300 too.

I think the bad axe may be the same.

Hopefully this will be fixed with more mature bios's.

Yeah, if I were you I'd seriously consider cancelling and ordering an E6600 or even E6700 if you're using that phase unit.

hmm, i'm twisting in the wind again :D

will think about it overnight and decide on a clear head in the morning i think

Hi,
You talking about the Intel Extreme D975bx-304 975X (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard? Is that the Badaxe?

what didnt you like about it mate?

only thing i see to be lacking is the 4 sata ports only

-Needed hardmod to unlock the main overclocking options in bios
-Quirky bios
-266 + 50% max FSB in bios
-Seemed unstable to me (though I had to run on defult vcore as I didnt want to hard mod it)

I bought the asus at the same time and prefer it much more.

you liked asus more than tha bad axe? how come , i have seen loads of people who get higher clocks STABLE with the bad axe.

my 640 can bench @ 4.5 GHZ while in an asus can past 4.3 no way.

also tha bad axe has 8 sata , quirky bios?

8? i thought it only had 4 ports?

p.s. what options do you have to 'unlock' to get to in the bios?

what are the limits without unlocking/

I think so... well... last time I think I looked it did.... erm... I'm at the gf house so I will check tomorrow, I really thought that it had 8... but I'm more then likely wrong!!!

if i decided to keep my phase for my other X2, which would be the best air cooling for a conroe?

Thermaltake Big Typhoon 4 in 1
Thermaltake Sonic Tower 4-in-1
ThermalRight Ultra-120
Scythe Samurai Z
Scythe Ninja Plus
Scythe Miné

i have a spare delta 120mm fan going which i would use on whichever the best would be. any suggestions?

The Tower is HUGE to say the least and I also read a post on XS saying that it only probably offers a 2-3 degrees lower cpu temp than the Thermaltake BT. Also the poster made an interesting point that most people had the mobo outside of the case! So you need a large case to fit it. Also the Tower does not cool components around the cpu socket well, whereas the BT does such as the mcch or something? Anyway I'm gonna go for the Thermaltake :)
