Conroe now available from OcUK!

Spoke to a sales guy from another competitor on friday afternoon. They have conroe on pre-order on their website but he told me they expect to get stock in 2-3weeks at the earliest. He said there was a massive shortage on these chips in europe and he expects that most sites pre-orders of the 6400-6600 chips will not be met by the number of chips available.

Retail boxes are going to be hard to find, that why sites are now getting oem 6300s onto pre-order as that is about all that will be initially available and the top-end x6800 but who wants to pay £700 for unlocked multis.

Got a feeling a few people will be a little disapointed next week.

I've had 2 E6300's, 2 E6400's and 2 E6700's on order with another e-tailer and I telephoned them today and they confirmed that I would be able to collect them tomorrow (Sunday) as they had a very small quantity of stock for the launch date (23/7/06). They also said that Intel were trying to pull the launch back to Thursday 27/7/06. The person I spoke to didn't know why.

I had also ordered another 2 OEM chips from OcUK on Thursday as the website said they had stock, but they didn't ship Friday and I cancelled the order as the web page changed to show them actually arriving next Wednesday.

I'm waiting on these as I've sold all my folding rigs and now I'm in imminent danger of being overtaken by Bigstan, not to mention the loss of about 6000 points per week to Team 10!

Agreed, there is nothing anyone can do to alter your statutory rights no matter what they get you to agree to on the website.

No, I don't think that's correct. The police caution people about their rights, but if they waive them, they can't take back what they said later.

As I said in my original post, I think if you tested it in law, it might be argued that you had statutory rights, but you voluntarily agreed to give them up in exchange for OcUK giving you a better price on the item as DFI are handling all RMA's directly.

But I'm extremely glad to hear they are giving the relevant party a refund, who will doubtless buy something decent instead (dons flameproof underwear).

QUOTE]

Criminal law is completely different from consumer law. There is no way you can be haggled out of your statutory rights in consumer law.

However, the good thing is, as you say, OcUK have come through in this case and all is well that ends well. Personally, I am very glad to hear of good service from anyone!

It's definitely a very interesting subject - most of OcUK's competitors will say that they cannot offer advice about components and then try to charge diabolical restocking fees if the item they sold you isn't compatible or somesuch. Such fees are counter to your statutory rights, but I've still seen some people pay them.

Sadly (and I include myself in this) too many of us are ignorant of our rights and we do get haggled out of them. And why do OcUK put that blurb on the web page if they can't make it stick?

Oh I dunno about that :D I've gone for a Gigabyte DS4 in the meantime....

Actually, about the DFI thingy. On the ocuk website it seems to cover lanparty boards but the infinity has no extra terms in its product description...

Have u ordered the ds4 because I have seen it for much less at a site where I have just ordered my eclipse 62. Its in a special for the weekend.
Cant tell u where u will just have to search for it.

Sorry if this has been answered but I need a little info...

What is the difference between the E6300 OEM and Retail? They both state they have a stock heatsink. Is it a reduced warrenty or something?

I would say that the description incorrect. As far as I know OEM do not come with a heatsink and fan and only have one year warranty. So basically you just get the CPU and one year warranty. But don't quote me on that.
