Conroe now available from OcUK!

Yes, but the guys who pre-ordered have paid the pre-order levy to get their chips on day #1, and they'll have paid that extra for nothing if they don't get their chips (or have them dispatched) on the 24th.
I presume OcUK will drop their conroe prices after the 24th, to match other e-tailers, but if stock isn't available on launch day, those who pre-ordered will have paid the extra for nothing.
If stock isn't available on launch, that would indicate a shortage. If there is a shortage, regardless of the delay, prices will stay high and the pre-order guys will still get theirs first - it just won't be on the 24th.

The only way they get penalised for paying the premium is if the shortage is only with OCUK and nowhere else.

What happens if the number of chips that OCUK get supplied with is less than the number of people on the preorder list?

Will the remaining preorderers have to wait a couple of weeks for the next shipment and still have to pay preorder prices?

Yup i'd say so, since the money is taken out of your account as soon as you place the order, even if its a pre-order.

Then is there any way of cancelling your order and re-ordering it again if the prices have dropped?

If the price of the CPU were to drop and yours was still waiting to be despatched, then I would have thought OcUK would refund you the difference.

If not you always have the option to cancelling your order for a full refund then reordering.

I so want to believe that, but I think I'm running out of enthusiasm :)

I hope he was telling the truth because now my current computer's decided to blow up I can't do my work or play my new games. I rang up initially asking whether all my products were in stock yet because of my predicament and he said yes, even the processor and motherboard.

Maybe Gibbo can confirm?

P.S: I'm on my dad's comp at the mo and it's not very competent :)

Oh nasty, well here's hoping for your sake :-)

My new rig is all built, I'm running a 2.53Ghz Celly in it at the mo - its like a Ferrari with a 1.1 litre engine in it....come one Conroe!

if my memory serves well , in case the price is lower that the one preordered , OCUK charges you the lowered price .

No they dont.. i asked about the bad axe board before it was shipped, I ordered on friday night, it was in stock and shipped monday afternoon. The price from friday fell from £164 to £152 on monday and they WOULD NOT refund me the difference. I emailed and spoke on the phone and was told I agreed to pay £164 on friday and I entered into a contract at that price.

Hence why I order most things from 'bigger' competitiors who rightfully DO refund the difference.

Bummer. I suppose it was in stock though. It's a little different.

They have done the price match before though.

They should do price match considering the fact that you have the right to:
1. cancel your order
2. return your order.

makes sense.

Yeah I know, but they point blank refuse, so I spent £2500 with a different retailer...and I must admit I really did notice a massive difference in customer service, especially seens as they phoned to make sure everything was ok with my order the day I received it.

I was most impressed
