console loyalty

Since the original Xbox when Microsoft released the Japanese controller I have been a covert (the original xbox contoller was poor though). Unless the PS4 has a much improved controller or is substantially graphically better then it will be 720 for me.

I will likely get an Xbox, I like the controller and gears of war, blue ray is very much wanted and has to be in it. I'm not much of a gamer anymore so will just get what I know and like for the odd gaming session. For the limited gaming I do the features between them don't really bother me and never once felt the urge to buy a ps3 once owning over 12 xboxes :D

I shifted from PS3 to the 360 a few years ago purely for the xk3y device. Obviously this won't be available for the next Xbox so I will have to review both before making a decision.

Off the back of that, Sony really need to pull something out of the bag to rival the Live experience. I really don't think the majority of people would mind paying for a reliable service.

I've decided I will be 100 million percent definitely getting a PS4.

But you know, I'll also be getting Microsofts console when that comes out too :p

LOYALTY SHOULD BE WITH GAMES MAAAAAAN </stoner voice>

I'm like you OP, I don't get it either. PS4 placed some of their cards on the table and it was disappointing in regards to the way it was presented. Pretty much universally the presentation was slated; yet people are already stating their "loyality" towards the PS4. Makes no sense.

See what MS has to offer before committing firstly surely? The new xbox could blow every one away.

As for me, I have no brand loyality. I prefer Microsofts consoles purely because of the controller as ergonomically it's miles ahead and that's it. The PS3 had blueray, better exclusives. The xbox performed better in the same games (not by much though!) and the online service is superior (though you have to pay for it).

Can't wait to see MS up the stakes however, Sony will respond too. Makes such an interesting 6 months aheaad of us!

I will get an xbox as i prefer halo, gears of war and forza, and the controller.

This.

There are more Xbox exclusives that I like than Playstation ones. Nothing to do with which brand I like more, I just prefer HALO, GoW, Forza, Alan Wake etc

I've never understood brand loyalty at all. That goes for everything in this world Apple/Android/Nvidia/ATI/ASUS/MSI/Samsung/Cleavo/Alienware etc... I just don't get it. Surely the logical thing is to read reviews and just go with the best bang for buck

That said when it comes to consoles I'm a tech freak so I will just buy both regardless :p

Bang for buck applies to things like cpu's and gpu's are they are purely performance but when you get to phones or consoles it becomes as much about the OS and games which alone can sway people to preferring one or the other. Based on what we currently know I am sceptical of anyone who catorgorically says I will be 100% getting the PS4 or Nextbox. We don't know enough about the PS4 and pratically nothing about the nextbox which means no educated decision can be made. Saying that though, as people including myself have said there are things that will sway us to one or the other - whether it be controller, friends, exclusive games etc.

I had the original XBox and a PS2. I preferred my Xbox over the PS2 but I went for the PS3 mainly because it had bluray. I cant think of any other reasons why. If Sega made another console I'd probably go for that instead because the Dreamcast is still my most favourite console of all time, followed closely by the N64.

I don't have any console loyalty.
I owned a PS1 and PS2. Didn't get an Xbox as I wasn't interested in it. I then bought an Xbox 360 after seeing Gears Of War.
I've no idea which one i'm going to buy next. At the moment i'm edging towards the PS4 because Sony has much better exclusives and MS seem to be moving away from actual games and concentrating on rubbish i'm not interested in(like Kinect). The only Xbox exclusive I actually like is Gears.
Saying that,I will wait to see what MS offer us before making a decision.

i have no console loyalty, i've owned pretty much all of them, i actually think the xbox was better than the ps2, but i played the ps2 more because it was launched well before it and had the better range of games. i bought a 360 and a ps3, and all my mates ended up getting a ps3, so i ended up giving the 360 to my bro. i also think the 360 is a better console than the ps3, just that the subscription and the fact none of my friends own it is a let down. whereas all the kids at school have 360's so my bro is constantly on it with his mates.

this time i will not be buying either @ launch, i will wait for a decent deal to appear later on, but i'm waiting to see what microsoft has to offer first before making a decision, it will also depend on how long til ms release it as well.

i have found though that since the xbox is cheaper, it tends to be the option parents go for when buying for their kids, so you get a lot more "idiots" on it than you do with the ps3. this has it's advantages with some games being "easier" to play since your up against 8 year olds, but then you have to put up with the ones on your team constantly screaming down the mic.

ps3 also has terrible voice support, nobody uses a mic, sony really need to start either shipping a mic with the console, or make it plug into the controller, i think this is xbox's best advantage, they really nailed down how to offer voice comms in games and in the right package too, cheap headsets plugged into the controller.

i'll probably end up with both again one way or another.

I always get drawn to the underdogs. I just find that since they have an uphill battle they have the most innovative and best games.

This gen I'll be a Wii U and PC owner. Previous gens I owned the Dreamcast and XBOX.

I slightly lean towards Xbox (controller, exclusives, friends) but I have a PS3 and 360 this gen, not sure what will happen next gen, I'll wait to see what both put on the table. I would prefer the Nextbox to be the best simply for ease of crossing over.
